Across the Country
it has been obvious that in order to sharpen your tools and get better you need to leave the state and play against other teams that are better. You need to play on a platform that will help your players develop and get challenged. Kongo Elite was in Phoenix, AZ. Salt City Hustle was in Rockhill South Carolina. Utah Gold was in Bryant, Texas. the list goes on and on. This is something that is helping Utah teams improve and we see it at the high school level.
Stock Risers
This kid is really taking his hoop to another level. His ability to run the floor and finish has improved. Reece’s play out in the perimeter has also improved. With his recent move to American Fork it looks like AF will add more size and a player that can step out and stretch the floor as a 4. Reece is really turning that corner and elevating his game and stock to play at the next level.
John has been solid for the past few years but playing his natural position as a SG has really showed what he can do at the next level. It actually starts at the defensive end of the ball. He is usually guarding one of the best players on the other team and he is holding his own against D1 talent. So much so that his shot making ability and defensive effort helped him pull a D1 offer. John was on fire in a few key games and even hitting 6 three-pointers in a row.
Size and shooting ability. He has been making it rain and when he is one of the lead guards he will step into a three. Dutch has been playing really hard and taking his game too new heights. Really like that he has improved his game off the bounce. I don’t see many high school teams stopping him next year.
Highlights
Spencer is running with UBC Elite and boy has he shown that next level athleticism. He is attacking anyone that over plays him high out on the perimeter. He had an impressive dunk down the middle of the lane as he jabbed and used that quick burst on his firt step and got by his defenders and that speed beat the rotation as he rose up and flushed one down with authority. Spencer is going to be a key player next year over at Mountain Ridge.
The Class of 2024
This class is so good and has so much talent from top to bottom. From Malick Diallo Malick Diallo 6'9" | C Wasatch Academy | 2024 State #131 Nation UT (Utah Prospects) just showing poise and ability to use great footwork. To Dutch Dowdell Dutch Dowdell 6'6" | SG Olympus | 2024 State #310 Nation UT (Mountain Stars) who is just a bucket out in the perimeter. New comers like Derelle Desire (Salt Lake Rebels) have really shown they are D1 caliber prospects. The list goes on and on. This is just a public service announcement to really appreciate the talent across the state because they will be seniors next year
