Tyler Smith Tyler Smith 6'2" | SG Wheaton Academy | 2025 State IL Kenwood 6’1 PG
Smith was superb displaying his ability to run the lead guard spot as well as mix in opportunities to score for himself. He made several shots off the dribble and scored some layups throughout the day. On defense, he was able to shut down some possession because he’s so active with his feet and hands.
George Bellevue George Bellevue 6'5" | PF Lincoln Way East | 2023 State IL Lincoln Way East 6’4 F
George had some special moments getting some powerful dunks in two of the games. Bellevue is extremely tough to keep off the boards he has a football body but is very quick off his feet. What I liked most was his continuous motor in the drills carried over to the games. Can be a special mismatch at the next level.
Chikasi Ofoma Chikasi Ofoma 6'6" | C Curie | 2023 State IL Curie 6’5 F/C
The man child was his normal self, a physical presence in the paint who battles hard on the boards. Chikasi is a force in the paint and is skilled enough to make plays from the three point line. After a successful senior season his play at Chitown Showcase was just reassurance that he is a legit college prospect.
Raeshom Harris Raeshom Harris 6'4" | SG Bloom | 2023 State IL 6’4 Bloom G
Already known around the city for his on ball defense. Rae had a nice showing at the Showcase. He did a good job at denying guys in the 1 on 1 drills. Harris showed he can shoot from the college three point line at the next level.
Wade Sims Thornridge 6’2 G
My first glance at Sims was at the Showcase and what I like about his game was his confidence and the types of shots he took. Wade didn’t force much but he made the right pass and knew when to take the shot. Sims has a decent mid range shot and is capable of finishing at the rim a couple of plays.
Amarion Johnson Amarion Johnson 6'7" | PF Tinley Park | 2023 State IL Tinley Park 6’8 F/C
Johnson was the tallest prospect in the gym. Superb rim protector and rebounder. Johnson is an athlete for his size that’s still raw offensively but can do some things already that translate to the next level. Amarion hit a few jump shots in the 3 on 3 portion proving that he has a solid jump shot. Small colleges who need size and an immediate rim protector should be in contact with this player.
Grady Thompson Princeton 6’4 F
Another player who was able to see for the first time. Grady is a very athletic wing that finishes well around the rim. He runs hard on transition plays often looking to finish with a dunk. Grady has a decent shot that can become consistent once he gets on the college campus.
Bryce Tillery Bryce Tillery 5'7" | PG Hillcrest | 2023 State IL Hilcrest 5’11 PG
Bryce is another one who just finished a stellar season coming into the Showcase. He did a great job at controlling the pace of the game dishing out several assist in the 5 on 5 scrimmage. Tillery made several shots but coaches were more invested on how well he guarded the basketball.
Evan Jackson Evan Jackson 6'6" | SF St Rita Chicago | 2023 State IL De La Salle 6’7 F
Jackson was very active on Saturday. It started out with him showing his range from three. He then showed he is a willing defender and rebounder for his size and frame. Evan has always been a versatile wing that can do a little bit of everything good. As he gets closer to graduating him becoming consistent will land him offers from about every level.
Larry Carthan Julian 6’7 F
Carthan had a good start to the 5 on 5 games. He did an excellent job of rebounding the ball on the offensive side getting a few put backs. In later games used his length to get some dunks in transition as well as blocks on the defensive side. Larry showed he can hang with the better players in the city and many coaches were intrigued.
Hunter Duncan Hunter Duncan 6'0" | PG Evanston | 2023 State IL Evanston 6’1 PG
Hunter is a very competitive kid who understands he is the floor general. In the games he was always thinking a play ahead. Moving the ball to each teammate keep them invested and involved with the game. Duncan has the size to bully in the lane but always keeps his eyes up to make the right play. Coaches raved about him after the event especially because he was so unselfish and seemed to play with a chip on his shoulder.
Jevon Warren TF North 6’1 F
Warren is a bouncy undersized forward that doesn’t back down to anyone. Jevon is quick off his feet when crashing the boards. He also has excellent hang time when going for putbacks or dunks. Warren was able to guard 4 positions despite being a couple inches shorter than most of the forwards. He can be an excellent role guy right away next season.
Kyle Olagbegi Kyle Olagbegi 6'5" | SF Lincoln Way East | 2023 State IL Lincoln Way East 6’6 F
Kyle was one of the best stories coming out of the Showcase. He looked really well playing on the perimeter for his size knocking down threes and making strong drives finishing with creative layups. Perhaps the biggest takeaway was Olagbegi efforts on defense. He guarded multiple positions on switches and he didn’t lose a step. I like how versatile Kyle can be for any school next season as he has good size and strength that you don’t see much on high school kids. Add to the fact he is very skilled makes him a hot commodity for College coaches.
