Continue ReadingElite prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) have begun the annual ritual of transferring high schools. With the NCAA transfer portal jamming up high school recruiting, we expect there will be a host of extremely talented players who switch schools this spring/summer. Many of them will reclass into a later graduate year.
At Prephoops.com we will do our best to track all the player movements and pass that information on to our readers.
Below is the second installment in our Transfer Watch 2023 series.
Cole Denardo – 6’1” / Senior / Rocktop Academy / PSB Philly / Combo Guard: Denardo is a quick and versatile guard with elusive handles. Off the dribble he can create opportunities for himself or teammates. His ability to absorb contact at the rim and still convert is extraordinary. Denardo excels in transition as well. In 2022-23 Denardo was the No. 1 option for Woodlynde School, averaging 15 points per night. His outstanding season was recognized with a 1st Team All-Penn-Jersey AA selection. Next year Denardo will attend Rocktop Academy for a post graduate year.
Jacen Holloway Jacen Holloway 6'4" | SF Devon Prep | 2023 State PA – 6’4” / Senior / US Army Prep / Prim3Tim3 / Small Forward: Holloway committed to West Point, but after he departs Devon Prep this spring, he will enroll in a post graduate year at US Army Prep. Holloway is a stretch-4 style player who caused significant matchup issues for Philadelphia Catholic League opponents this winter. He averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds per game while shooting 31% on threes. One of Holloway’s most impressive performances of the season was his 25 points (2 threes), 14 boards and 3 assists effort against Archbishop Carroll.
Cameron Smith Cameron Smith 6'7" | PF Academy Of New Church | 2026 State PA – 6’6″ / Sophomore / Academy of New Church / East Coast Power / Small Forward: In 2022-23 Smith as a deep reserve at LaSalle CHS, but the upside on this prospect is extremely intriguing. Last weekend at the Made Hoops East event, Smith averaged 14 points and 9 boards per contest. This long, high IQ athlete can hit threes, capitalize on second chance opportunities, and score off the dribble. If his skill set continues develop, Smith projects as a college stretch-4. In addition to transferring to ANC, Smith will reclass into the 2026 graduate year.
Jake Stout Jake Stout 6'6" | SF Perkiomen School | 2024 State PA – 6’6″ / Senior / Perkiomen School / Team Thrill UAA / Small Forward: The Perkiomen School program continues to add high level post graduate talent. Stout is a log and versatile former Boys’ Latin (MD) standout. There he averaged 15 ppg. to go along with 5 rpg. and posted back-to-back seasons in which he drained 50 or more three pointers. With his size and quick trigger, Stout can shoot over most defenders with ease. As a bonus to his perimeter shooting, Stout can attack this cup off the dribble and finish with authority. At Boys’ Latin he also was a two-time MIAA All-Conference selection.
