Nothing could be less true. I have always seen PrepHoopsTN rankings as my most educated estimation of where these young men will peak in their basketball career. Along with Courtney Smith, I do my best and try to serve as a guiding tool for recruiters and a fun barometer for players, family, and fans of the sport.
All that is to say that there are, only once in a blue moon, mistakes. Enter sarcasm. The following players are currently ranked outside of the PrepHoopsTN Top 15 in their respective classes, but somebody, usually their AAU coach predicts a climbing, or at least a huge summer that would necessitate a climbing.
Griffin Cooper Griffin Cooper 6'8" | PF Columbia Academy | 2024 State – Team Mookie 17u (#16)
“I think he is going to have one of the best, if not the best summers. Can score around the rim. We have added a little range to his shot.” – Coach Michael Claybrooks
Brian Carter Jr. Brian Carter Jr. 6'6" | SG Ridgeway | 2024 State – (#69)
Impressed in his junior season. Wonderful height for a guard.
Judson Bjornstad – Team Mookie 17u (Unranked)
“I am telling you right now. The kid can play. He is not a 4 or 5 at all. He is not the biggest. He has a light frame. His IQ is high.” – Coach Michael Claybrooks
Christopher Morris – Tennessee Edge 16u (Unranked)
Tennessee Edge Director/Head Coach Tony Thompson starts Christopher Morris in his 16u backcourt. The Antioch guard will need to play well to making a ranking debut, but the Tennessee Edge is a team we always watch, so Morris will get a long look.
