SubscribeNorth Dakota Phenom 2025 competed in the Prep Hoops Circuit event, Madness In The Midwest, on April 21-23 in Appleton, Wisconsin. They didn’t play until Saturday the 22nd at 3:35 PM and they rounded out with four games in two days. This is my first time seeing them, as I transition to building my repertoire and covering North Dakota, along with South Dakota.
ND Phenom 2025 Team Analysis
From the initial eye-test, the team features obvious length, especially on the wings. A very deep team from top to bottom and they don’t lose much going to their bench. Multiple prospects over 6’4” and three listed at exactly 6’7”. 6’7” is their tallest prospect. Very sound defensively on the perimeter, applying smart pressure, by pressuring while giving adequate space to not get beat off the dribble. If they got beat by their individual matchup, help defense came over quickly. They love the dribble-drive and kick and share the ball, looking for the best shot. A team that seems disciplined on both ends and plays the game how it should be played. ND Phenom 2025 was an exciting watch for me, with their length, skill, and upside. They went 3-1 throughout the weekend and I was able to catch two of the games.

Prospect Breakdown
Here, I will essentially give a scouting report and profile the prospects. Not necessarily diving deep into stats, but the traits that standout and what their play-style looks like. I can’t give a recruitment/placement projection until I see these prospects more, but ND Phenom 2025 has some legitimate prospects, I will say.

Bishop Ryan | 2025
State
ND
– 6’7” Wing/ PF (2025) – Bishop Ryan (ND) – Very high on Walz. A mobile, athletic, and versatile 6’7” prospect. One of those guys you can throw an olley-oop to and can finish cleanly. Has the ability to dunk from a standstill, and gets off the floor quickly to beat the defense to the rim. Dunks with ease. Can get out and defend smaller guards at the three-point line. He can get beat initially off-the-dribble but recovers well with length to get a stop. Not afraid to attack the ball in the air and can fight through contact.

Bismarck Century | 2025

ND
– 6’4” PG (2025) – Bismarck Century (ND) – Drew dictates the team’s offense from the point. A good handle on the ball and he doesn’t rush himself. Just an extremely composed point guard, and I can’t emphasize this enough about his game. So smooth and confident. Good positional size and a steady frame. Can’t find much for weaknesses in his game.
Karson Ouse

Kindred | 2025
State
ND
– 6’7” Wing (2025) – Kindred (ND) – Ouse possesses extreme length, with long lanky arms that may reach his kneecaps. Along with his length, he gets after it and will compete defensively. Closes out hard on shooters to contest. Tough to score on off-the-dribble near the hoop. Has some refining to his overall game but screams clear upside going into his college years.
Walker Braaten

Westhope/Newburg | 2025
State
ND
– 6’4″ G (2025) Westhope (ND) – Braaten is a sniper from three and also has length and movement. Loves to fire from deep and will get back and defend.

– 6’6″ G/F (2025) Kindred (ND) – Another prospect with exceptional length for
ND Phenom
. An alert and aware defender that plays solid positioning on and off the ball. Makes it a point to be in the right place. Displayed exceptional jumping ability and the ability to hang in the air to be a difference-maker.
Caden Englund

Englund

Shiloh Christian | 2025
State
ND
– 6’2” G (2025) – Shiloh Christian (ND) – Englund prided himself on the defensive end, picking up 3/4 court and applying ball-pressure. Good movement in all directions and can get off the floor and jump quickly with nice verticality. Loves to get up and go for blocks and contest at the rim to send a message.
Brennan Johnson

Johnson

Tioga | 2025
State
ND
– 6’7” C (2025) – Tioga (ND) – Johnson doesn’t have overwhelming size and athletic ability, but he’s a guy every team needs. An interior prospect with a steady motor and a winning player. Attacks the ball off the rim and fights to come down with the ball. Offensively, does a good job of slowing himself down to be an efficient scorer and finisher at the hoop. Can board-and-go, handling the ball cleanly in the open court and setup teammates at the hoop for easy transition finishes. Unselfish and makes the right play with the ball. Has the ability to hit a three off the pass.
