I’ve been taking a look at highlights from Class of 2024 prospects from Iowa. We’ve hit crunch time for the group as it winds down its junior year of high school. I linked the first two installments above.
Here’s Part III:
Holden Arnaman

, CG, West Branch – I’ve been pushing Arnaman (6-3) since I started here back in the Fall. I listed him as a combo guard but also could label him as a scoring point guard. He has good handles and sees the court well. He can run the show. He also blows by defenders and knocks it down from deep. He averaged 21.8 points per game and sported a 1.94 assist-to-turnover ratio as a junior.
Tre’von Coney, PG, Bettendorf – Another scoring point guard, Coney offers a diverse and well-rounded set of skills when he’s going well. Ball handling and short-area quickness stand out among them. His shooting form looks good, and he shows range in his highlights. Drive-and-dish looks like a focus of his game. He’ll join Bettendorf for his senior season after averaging 17.9 points last season at Davenport North.
Calix Cahill Calix Cahill 6'5" | PF Dallas Center-Grimes | 2024 State IA , F, Dallas Center-Grimes – I enjoy watching player highlights. Cahill’s film is especially fun. It shows a guy busting it end to end, blocking shots and rim-running. He brings power at the forward position, proving to be a handful in the paint whether finishing at the rim or cleaning the glass. He understands passing angles and positioning. He plays with a lot of passion and energy.
Jack Wynter Jack Wynter 6'3" | SG Ames | 2024 State IA , G, Ames – Listed at 6-foot-1, Wynter possesses long arms that help him player taller than that. He shows a smooth, lefty stroke in the mid-range or behind the arc. He handles it well with both hands, has a quick first step and finishes at the basket. His pull-up game is something of a lost art, but he uses well and at the right times. He mixes it up with an effective step-back jumper. He averaged 14.4 points in ’22-23, shooting 39.5 percent on threes and 87.3 from the foul line.

Johnston | 2024

, PG, Des Moines Lincoln – Cavil is a known prospect in Iowa after leading the Railsplitters in scoring the last three seasons. His recruitment doesn’t reflect the level of production and upside of his game. That’s why he’s here. The 6-foot lead guard averaged 21.1 points and 6.3 assists as a junior. Defenders struggle keeping him in front of them. He can shoot from deep with unconventional form. He sees the floor well and excels at drive-and-kick.
Jordan Dewaele, F, Council Bluffs Jefferson – The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 16.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks as a junior. He shows a well-rounded game with an ability to score from anywhere courtesy of a knack for getting open on step-backs and dribble-drive. He has a strong off-hand (left) and long arms. They and excellent timing help him as a shot blocker on defense.
Payton Hagans Payton Hagans 6'0" | SG Mount Pleasant | 2024 State IA , PG, Mount Pleasant – Hagans (6-0) is a lead guard very capable of setting up teammates, getting buckets on his own, playing solid defense and rebounding. He’s an all-around good guard. He averaged 20.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.4 steals last season. He gets his shot off in good time with nice form. He’s strong, allowing him to finish at the rim and defend multiple positions.
