Continue ReadingWe are back for another ECI preview. Today, we look at ECI 15U Selects Black. This squad is led by Lane Voltz, he is a good young coach with a passion for the game and he genuinely cares about his player’s improvement. This team is almost an even split between west & east. There are 5 players from Bismarck and 3 players from eastern ND with 1 player from Moorhead. There are four players from Bismarck Century that come from a culture of success and other athletes that have already played important roles on their high school teams. There is plenty of potential on this ECI squad.
ECI 15U Black played this past weekend at the Comets Shootout in St. Cloud. They play again next weekend at Prep Hoops LIVE in Minneapolis. PHD is looking forward to this as we will be able to watch many of the local (Dakotas) teams compete. This will be the first time watching many of these 2026 athletes play in person.
Good luck at Prep Hoops LIVE!

Roster & Player Comments from Coach Voltz
Xander Hanson Xander Hanson 5'11" | SG Bismarck Century | 2026 State ND (2026) |5’11 G/F| Bismarck Century
“Xander is a guard/wing that can create off the dribble and knock down the open jump shot. His athleticism will help at multiple positions on both ends of the floor.“
Colton Cruchet Colton Cruchet 5'11" | SG Central Cass | 2026 State ND (2026) |5’10 G| Central Cass
“Colton is a solid option at any guard spot. Coming from a State Championship program in Central Cass he is expected to have a great summer.“
Isaac Jacobson Isaac Jacobson 6'2" | PG Park Christian | 2026 State MN (2026) |6’1 SG| Park Christian
“Isaac is another athletic wing that will provide stability on both ends of the floor. His varsity experience at Park Christian and ability to score at all three levels will help the team immensely.“
Aiden Simek Aiden Simek 6'0" | SG West Fargo | 2026 State ND (2026) |5’10 G| West Fargo
“Aiden is a quick guard with tons of offensive potential. His mid-range game looked solid at tryouts and he is a guy that will do the “intangible” things for the team.“
Jack Julson Jack Julson 6'0" | SG Bismarck Legacy | 2026 State ND (2026) |6’0 G/F| Bismarck Legacy
“Jack is a knockdown outside shooter with sneaky athleticism and great finishing. A multi-sport athlete, he’ll be looked to for a lot of things on this team.“
Camden Kraemer Camden Kraemer 5'10" | CG Bismarck Century | 2026 State ND (2026) |5’7 G| Bismarck Century
“Camden is a shifty, quick guard with great ballhandling skills and the ability to find the open man. He can get to the rim with ease and is capable of getting extremely hot from deep.“
Noah Herr Noah Herr 5'11" | SG Bismarck Century | 2026 State ND (2026) |5’11 G| Bismarck Century
“Noah will spread the floor with his ability to shoot the ball. Another solid athlete, he’ll be asked to do a lot on both sides of the floor.“
Joey Kraljic Joey Kraljic 6'3" | SF Bismarck Century | 2026 State ND (2026)|6’1 F| Bismarck Century
“Joey is an all-around workhorse. He’ll take the smaller defender to the post where he is a natural and has the ability to play on the perimeter just as well.“
Owen Scoville Owen Scoville 5'11" | SG West Fargo | 2026 State ND (2026) |5’11 G| West Fargo
“Owen will have the ball in his hands a ton as a lead guard and floor general. His ability to defend at any position will be critical to our success as a team, and his offense will be called on a lot.“
Q&A with Lane Voltz
PHD: Why are you excited about this team/roster?
Coach Voltz: “We have 9 really good athletes and basketball players with a ton of experience playing basketball at a high level. All of the athletes are committed and playing with a chip on their shoulder. We’ll pride ourselves on being one of the harder-working teams at any tournament we show up to.“
PHD: How often will your team practice/work out?
Coach Voltz: “We’ll have workouts multiple times a week with opportunities to get together as a team before tournaments and spread throughout the spring/summer.“
PHD: What will a couple of your strengths be as a team?
Coach Voltz: “As a smaller team, our ability to get out in transition will be huge for us. We have 9 guys that can spread the floor and knock down the three. We have a great mix of guys that can get to the rim and yet are willing to make an extra pass. Defensively we’ll be able to pressure teams into mistakes that benefit us.“
PHD: What style of basketball will you play on the offensive end?
Coach Voltz: “We’ll play an up-tempo style of offense with tons of transition looks. In the half court, we’ll look to put pressure on defenses through free-flowing 5-out motion, attacking the rim, and kicking to open shooters.“
PHD: What brand of defense do you foresee your team playing?
Coach Voltz: “As said earlier, we’ll have to hang our hat on the defensive end. We’ll play a brand of ½ court chaos with the freedom of our top guard to pressure in the full court and force mistakes that lead to easy offense.“
