The event, which is operated by West Coast Elite, featured tons of programs from around the southwest. It also featured several talented future prospects, including tons of raw, big men. In this article, we take a look at some of the top bigs from the event.
Ashton Ries
Ashton Ries
Ries was one of the hardest playing players I saw during the weekend. The forward did a good job competing and winning in traffic boards. He also was efficient catching and finishing around the rim. He’s raw and plays with a wild spirit, and an evolving skill set. The forward showed a strong faceup game, several times putting the ball on the ground and driving past his defender.
Torrin Hill
Torrin Hill
Hill was one of several productive guys for Select. The big bodied center was a physical rebounder who played hard, while cleaning the glass and defending on the interior.
Dillon Carroll
Dillon Carroll
Caroll caught my eye, when I stopped in at the Pyramid. He was playing against High School competiton and holding his own while doing it. He brought a good defensive energy, battling with offensive players on the interior, while protecting the rim, blocking a couple of shots in the game I watched.
Gray Dwyer
Gray Dwyer
The Gremlins had a few of these type of players. Dwyer moves well, showing good fluidity when running the floor. He showed a good combination of an inside outside game. scoring on catch and finishes around the basket, as well as facing up when taking bigger players out on the perimeter.
Lance Bingham
Lance Bingham
The bespectacled Bingham was one of the taller players on the floor, however he flashed some solid ball skills. He was able to face up up and drive to the basket in the half court, and was one of the better grab and go guys I saw, showing the ability to take it off the glass and lead the break for his team.
Kaden Learham
Kaden Learham
Leatherman is a hard hat, glue guy type of player. He provided good support in help defense situations, wrestled away several 50/50 balls, and did a good job cleaning the glass for his squad.
Jayden Wong
Jayden Wong
I didn’t get a height on Wong, but he was one of the taller players on the floor in the game I saw. He also has a strong frame, and he used it to not only carve out space, but also finish putbacks through contact. The tough interior player, was one of the better rebounders I saw on the week.
Garrett Zhuang
Garrett Zhuang
Zhuang formed a terrific tandom with Wong. He picked up some easy buckets, simply by running the floor. He showed decent hands, catching the ball on the move, and found ways to score off putbacks.
Maruta Jawowa
Maruta Jawowa
Jawowa was one of the more intriguing prospects that I saw during the weekend. The gangly, young forward showed a lot of skills. Not only was he a good rim protector, he also showed range on the defensive side, blocking multiple perimeter jumpers. He runs like a deer, and is an explosive leaper who already showed the ability to play above the rim.
