The 7 team league featured teams from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, and looked like an intermediate level of basketball between high school and college.
Here’s a look at the First Team All Prep League team, as voted on by the coaches in the league.
POY: Jaden Daughtry | 6’7” F | Hargrave
EPL Averages: 27.2 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 2.5 SPG, 1.5 APG – 59% FG
Daughtry was almost the unanimous selection for Player of the Year, as the Indiana State commit was dominant in EPL play helping Hargrave go 5-1 and get the first seed in the EPL Conference Tournament. The 6’7” hybrid forward plays with a great motor and makes plays across the board, he’s an excellent finisher and attacks the offensive glass hard and he made big plays throughout the season when his team needed him the most.
Troy McKoy Troy McKoy 6'4" | SG Cushing Academy (MA) | 2024 #200 Nation NLG | 6’5” WG | Massanutten ’24
EPL Averages: 21.7 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 4.7 APG, 1.8 SPG, 1.2 BPG – 45% FG 39% 3FG
McKoy was the other player who received votes for POY, as he was fantastic leading Massanutten to a 4-2 record in conference play and the only team that beat Hargrave. McKoy checks all the boxes as a big wing who can score it in bunches and from multiple levels, he competes on the defensive end and on the glass and he makes plays for others when the defense starts to focus on him.
Jake Dimichele | 6’4” WG | First Love
EPL Averages: 24.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.8 APG – 53% FG, 37% 3FG
Dimichele was a unanimous selection to the first team, as he was the leading scorer for a First Love team that went 5-1 in conference play with their only loss coming to Hargrave. The 6’4” wing is an effortless scorer who is a knock down shooter from deep, he is a crafty finisher in traffic around the rim and he can make shots efficiently from all over the floor.
Malachi Palmer | 6’5” CG | Mt. Zion ’24
EPL Averages: 20.0 PPG, 7 RPG, 5.3 APG, 1.3 BPG – 44% FG
Mt. Zion struggled in EPL play going 1-5, but that may have a lot to do with Palmer only playing in 3 games as he’s dealt with an ankle injury over the last few months. Even while only playing 3 games the coaches voted him in as he’s one of the most talented players in the league, showing his ability to do a little bit of everything as a big guard who can score, distribute and rebound with the best of them.
Kahlil Singleton | 6’2” CG | Scotland
EPL Averages: 22.8 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 1.8 APG – 42% FG 46.7% 3FG
The Holy Cross commit was one of the best scoring guards in the league, as the 6’2” combo showed an array of shot making ability and put up some of the best individual performances throughout the season. He’s a crafty guard who can create space off the bounce and has a quick release, he has great body control to fade in the midrange and make shots over bigger defenders and he has effortless range and the ability to make shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce. While his team wasn’t the most talented in the league, he did a great job keeping them in games with his ability to light it up with the best of them.
Adrian Myers Adrian Myers 6'5" | SF Massanutten | 2023 State VA | 6’7” F | Massanutten
EPL Averages: 21.4 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.4 SPG, 1.4 BPG – 40% FG
The Mississippi State commit was one of the most productive players in the entire league if not in the country, as he averaged a double-double and was a very impactful two way player for Massanutten that went 4-2 in the league. He put on a clinic in their biggest games including a 41 point outburst in the conference championship against Hargrave, and he was one of the best two-way players in the entire league. He showed his ability to make shots consistently, was always making a highlight reel play in almost every game and helped a Massanutten team overachieve from what many people thought would happen.
Aaron Davis Aaron Davis 6'5" | SF Hudson Catholic | 2023 PA | 6’6” WF | First Love
EPL Averages: 19.2 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.3 SPG – 39.6% 3FG
The Bryant commit was one of the most dynamic scorers in the entire league, and if it weren’t for a game where he didn’t play in the second half his averages would have been much higher. The 6’6” wing is a shot making specialist who moves well without the ball, uses his size and athleticism to rise up and make contested shots over defenders and he was as aggressive as anyone looking to score. He had some big moments throughout the year and should be a guy who could come in and compete for minutes right away at the next level.
Kailon Nicholls | 6’0” PG | Hargrave
EPL Averages: 17.0 PPG, 5.7 APG, 2.3 RPG, 1.7 SPG – 49% FG
Nicholls was arguably the best point guard in the league and was a big reason for Hargrave winning the league as he set the tone and came up big when they needed it, especially in the conference championship game. The 6’0” lead guard is a dynamic playmaker who touches the paint at will, he creates space off the bounce to make tough shots and he made plays for others effortlessly. He also was a big time defender who set the tone guarding the ball and jumped passing lanes as well.
Carmelo Pacheco | 6’4” WG | Fork Union
EPL Averages: 19.8 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 2.5 APG – 52.4% FG 46.9% 3FG
While FUMA struggled for much of the year in league play, Pacheco was one of the most consisted players in the league and was perhaps the best shooter in the entire league. He was as consistent and efficient as anyone in the league, he made over 4 three-pointers per game shooting at an insane 47% clip with over 8 attempts per game and he grew as a defender and leader throughout the season. He’s one of the best available shooters in the country and showed a lot of improvement throughout the season.
