A-Town Showdown GameChangers: Top 16u Performers

We've officially wrapped up this year's A-Town Showdown, another competitive PrepHoops event bringing in teams from across the country. As usual, there was no shortage of tight finishes, highlight plays, and top-tier talent. These are a few guys that cemented themselves as GameChangers this weekend.
Hayden Umoren
Hayden Umoren
While I came into the weekend with an idea of what Umoren can do, he let everyone else know with an excellent showing at the A-Town Showdown. Umoren put on a dominant scoring display all weekend, hitting threes off the bounce and getting to the rim with ease. He also proved capable of guarding bigs inside and had a ton of blocks around the paint. He’ll be one to follow next year at Marietta.
JT Taggart
JT Taggart
JT Taggart may have been the most dominant big man I saw this weekend. Taggart’s big 6’8 frame gives him an advantage against most and he’s a force on the interior. He showed the ability to score out of either post and even knocked down a three-pointer that looked pretty smooth. While Taggart will have ample football opportunities, there may be the potential to play more basketball as well.
Javon Leonard
Javon Leonard
Javon Leonard really opened my eyes this weekend, playing with a newfound swagger and confidence that I didn’t see as much this year with Hiram. Leonard played a key role for the GA Stunners, handling the ball a lot of the time and provided spurts of scoring. He’s a shifty ball-handler, able to break down defenders and he hit multiple three-pointers off the bounce. Leonard will likely play a huge role for Hiram next year as the Hornets look to make another deep playoff run.
Ely Elegado
Ely Elegado
Ely Elegado made the most of his trip across the country and gave IE Fire some solid scoring production all weekend. He averaged 15 PPG over 4 games, including one 23-point outing against the North Florida Hurricanes. Elegado’s a crafty scorer that can burn teams from the three-point line or get inside and score using a variety of floaters and creative finishes. Elegado was undoubtedly one of our top performers in Atlanta this weekend.
Max Muhl may have earned the title of best shooter in the building this weekend. He finished with 15 three-pointers over 4 games and shot it with confidence all weekend. A 2026 prospect playing up in the 16u division, Muhl was still the on-court leader for his squad and initiated most of the offense. He’s a solid ball-handler and also showcased flashes of playmaking ability. After my first glance at Muhl this weekend, I’m excited to track him throughout his high school career.
