2024 Pat Ngongba talks recruitment + EYBL Session I

2024 big man Pat Ngongba has been a prominent name in DMV hoops circles for years now. As a freshman at the Highland School (VA) he imposed his size and frame on the block and used his long arms to haul in rebounds by the boatload. Once he made his move to Paul VI and Team Takeover along with getting his body into better shape, Ngongba has come to be one of the best available centers in the class on a national level. 

“I've definitely gotten more athletic since the fall,” Ngongba said when asked to reflect on improvements made since the fall. “I feel like that has helped me just be able to run the floor more and just be more of an impact without having to score.”

He was out to prove himself once again this weekend at EBYL Session I and did so in commanding fashion. The 6'9-6'10 center had a plethora of high major programs starting his name in the roster packets as programs who were already involved witnessed the level of play that will force them to pick up their efforts. 

“I'm a person who's going to get their teammates involved from the low post area ,” Ngongba told Prep Hoops Saturday evening following a win over Team Why Not. “I'm going to rebound and protect the rim. That's my approach every game.”

With games lying ahead today, Team Takeover sits with a 2-1 record on the weekend after running into a hot Florida Rebels squad on 8am Saturday morning. 

“I think we're playing well. As the season goes on we're definitely going to get better, but I mean, it's just a work in progress and I feel like we're getting better every day.”

Ngongba's activity and efficiency at both ends have been crucial in Takeover's success so far this spring. It's no secret that the Takeover program is a factory for manufacturing high major talent that can produce on a college floor right away. 

“Kansas State, Iowa, Providence and San Diego have all been consistent with me. Florida, Virginia Tech and the new Georgetown staff have all reached out to me recently.”

There are no visits currently planned for Ngongba, but when he does take his officials, he knows what he'll be looking for in a program. 

“I want to go to a school where I can develop for the next level and definitely a place where I can get a good education.”
