The 4 divisions featured some of the best teams in the state, and there was tons of talent across the board.
We continue with a look at part two of some of the many standouts from the D-III semifinals and finals.
Judah Egbo Judah Egbo 6'7" | C Life Christian Academy | 2023 State VA | 6’7” C | LCA ’23
Egbo is one of the top prospects in the D-III classification, and the big fella was very good for them in their semifinal win over Carmel School. He controlled the paint with his ability to challenge shots on the defensive end, he finished above the rim on touches in the paint and when push came to shove he stepped up big with the game on the line. He’s improved a lot over the years and while he may not always put up big numbers it doesn’t reflect his impact on the game.
Terry Prosise Jr. | 6’2” CG | LCA ’23
Prosise was another guy who had a big game in their win over Carmel School, getting hot early and making some shots to give them confidence early in the game. The 6’2” combo was great handling pressure and getting them in their sets, he worked well off the ball to get open and knock down shots and he got to the rim and finished well in traffic.
Jamari Garnett | 6’2” G | LCA ’23
Garnett was the x-factor for this LCA team on the way to the championship game before losing to Fairfax Christian, and his bully ball mentality set the tone for them. He got downhill and used his strength to finish around the rim, he fought for 50-50 balls and rebounded well and he showed toughness getting banged up and playing through pain. He was in double figures in both games, the only LCA player to do so.
Bryan Mitchell | 6’2” WG | LCA ’27
Watching Mitchell it’s easy to see that he has a very bright future, as the eighth grader showed no fear on the biggest stage and was fantastic for them in their semifinal win over Carmel. He has a great frame for someone his age and is likely still growing, he can knock down shots consistently and already has effortless range on his jumper and he’s no slouch on the defensive end or on the glass too. He finished with a game high 21 points hitting 4 three-pointers in the semifinal.
Reuben McEachern Reuben McEachern 6'1" | PG Carmel | 2023 State VA | 5’11” PG | Carmel School ’23
McEachern was the heart and soul of this Carmel team’s rebuild over the past few years, and the floor general did everything he could to help them move on but they fell just short. When it comes to throwback style floor generals there aren’t many better than McEachern, as he could care less about stats and more about what helps his team win. He made great decisions with the ball in his hands, he picked his spots and scored it well and he set the tone defensively too.
Aaron Brown | 6’2” WG | Carmel School ’23
The VA Wesleyan commit was Carmel’s leading scorer in their loss to LCA and he’s shown so much improvement over the past few years he looks like a totally different player. He was aggressive and confident taking and making shots from deep, he got to the rim and finished with athleticism and strength and he was good on the defensive end too. He will be a great piece for the Marlins over the next few years.
Stacy Bird | 6’7” C | Carmel School ’23
Bird is another Carmel player who has improved so much over the past few years, and he showed that on the biggest stage. He was tough in the paint clearing out space and getting banged up but continuing to play, he showed good touch around the rim and even stretched the floor and he contested shots and rebounded well too.
