Earlier today we published our updated Class of 2023 prospect rankings and by now you are familiar with the names who have remained at the top list for a year or more. Names like five-star recruits [player_tooltip player_id='991341' first='Justin' last='Edwards'], [player_tooltip player_id='991339' first='Rahmir' last='Barno'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1279647' first='Sultan' last='Adewale'].

So today we will review the Pennsylvania Class of 2023 rankings and reveal seven players from southeastern Pennsylvania who used the 2022-23 high school season to increase their recruiting stock and climb up our rankings.

Below are seven southeastern Pennsylvania stock risers from our updated 2023 rankings.

45 to 7…[player_tooltip player_id='1119114' first='Onyekachi' last='Nzeh'] – 6'10” / George School / Team Final EYBL / Power Forward: “Kachi's” wingspan, athleticism, leaping ability and soft touch around the cup pushed him into our Top 50. It was the continual development of his jump shot (Displayed 3-point range this year.) and his improved basketball IQ that has landed him inside the Top 10 of our latest rankings. This season “Kachi” (Xavier commit) averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game, led GS to the Friends League School title and was a 1st Team All-FSL selection for the second consecutive year.

103 to 15…[player_tooltip player_id='1119156' first='Deywilk' last='Tavarez'] – 6'2″ / Academy of New Church / Philly Pride National UAA / Combo Guard: A leg injury sidelined Tavarez for the bulk of the 2021-22 season. This winter he came back fully healthy and played like a man possessed. Tavarez (1st Team All-FSL selection) is a versatile and long guard who stuffed the stat book this season – 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals per game. His of the charts athleticism and polished skill set enables him to excel transition. His 3-point shooting and dribble drives moves enable Tavarez to score in the half court. Somehow, he remains uncommitted.

274 to 19…[player_tooltip player_id='1577636' first='Jermai' last='Stewart-Herring'] – 6'3” / Roman Catholic / We R1 / Combo Guard: The 2022-23 season was Stewart-Herring's first playing in Pennsylvania (formerly of St. Elizabeth's in DE). After an extended look at him this winter Stewart-Herring rocketed up our updated rankings. He is a superb athlete with significant hops who thrives on the fast break. Stewart-Herring can also hit mid-range Js and 3-balls. This season Stewart-Herring averaged 13 points and 4 rebounds per game while shooting 37.5% from deep. His outstanding efforts this year helped Roma win the Philly Catholic League title and earned him a 2nd team All-PCL selection.

105 to 48…[player_tooltip player_id='1119137' first='Jackson' last='Hicke'] – 6'5” / Radnor / Prim3 Tim3 / Shooting Guard: Hicke's game was firing on all cylinders this winter. This Princeton commit could always drain threes and work the mid-range for points. Then in 2022-23 he displayed improved rebounding at both ends, pushed the rock for coast-to-coast buckets and when double teamed, he delivered precision passes. In short Hicke (1,000+ points) has become a complete player. He averaged 20 pts., 8 rebs., and 3 assists per night while directing Radnor to the Central League regular season and tournament titles as well as the District 1-6A hardware. Hicke's outstanding season was topped off by the Central League POY award.

138 to 56…[player_tooltip player_id='1281996' first='Jaren' last='Morton'] – 6'5” / SCH Academy / SJ Hoops Elite / Shooting Guard: Morton's reputation as an athletic Swiss Army knife prospect proceeds him. Now after the 2022-23 season coaches can add 3-level scorer to his scouting report. This year Morton posted 14 points per game on 41% shooting from behind the arc. The highlight of his winter was a 36-point (7 threes) performance vs. Malvern Prep. His breakout season earned Morton 1st Team All-Inter-Ac honors. Morton also rebounds well (5 rpg.) and can guard multiple positions. Morton's foot speed, physicality, and vertical leap are impressive.

195 to 59…[player_tooltip player_id='1279628' first='Aris' last='Rodriguez'] – 6'5″ / Reading / Reading KTB / Shooting Guard: Last season Rodriguez was a key reserve for Reading with a single digit scoring average. In 2022-23 he earned a starting spot and then proceeded to post 14 points a night. Rodriguez is a remarkable athlete who is a transition phenom and can splash threes all day (50 3PM). Rodriguez even notched a 30-spot this winter. At the other end of the court, he is a tenacious defender who produces steals / deflections. Rodriguez was a 1st Team All-Berks selection and helped guide Reading to the Berks Conference as well as District 3-6A titles.

251 to 203…[player_tooltip player_id='1186010' first='Baasil' last='Saunders'] – 6'4″ / Imhotep Charter / Philly Pride National / Wing: Saunders is an exceptional “glue guy” who is flying under the radar because he plays on a nationally ranked Imhotep squad featuring a stacked roster. He can handle the rock, score at the rim, and knock down jumpers from the mid-range to the arc. Once he gets into the paint, Saunders (8 ppg.) can play through contact and finish with authority. He can also run in a unique point-forward type of role. Lastly, he is a plus defender. Saunders is a key member of this year's Imhotep squad that won the Philly Public League and District 12-5A titles.
