On Saturday March 4th I attended the 12th annual Areacodes Spring Showcase hosted by Chad Groth at the Phhacility for all ages in HS plus 8th graders.

He had 8 teams of around 7-8 on a team for 60 total players. Many brand new players were on hand and some trying to gain some exposure and competition.

Here were some of the Senior and Junior standouts of the showcase

[player_tooltip player_id='1211945' first='Zaveion' last='Bineyard'] Verrado

The top senior forward in attendance by a wide margin. He is a true three level threat who is a patient scorer in the paint, he can hit the three and had the best poster dunk of the showcase. His length, athleticism and size bothered all players trying to score in the paint to block shots and he will rebound in bunches. One of the best unsigned seniors in the AIA.

[player_tooltip player_id='1033063' first='Jay-Juan' last='Gould'] ALA-West Foothills

One of the most athletic guards in attendance. He is also a top shelf on-ball defender and he is a downhill stud. He is a very good passer who plays an unselfish brand of ball and makes plays in transition and in the half court set. His quick-twitch athleticism, speed and springs allows him to defend at a high level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275430' first='Memphis' last='James'] Coconino

A tough scoring guard who can hit the open shot plus can burst to the lane. He seems to be a better ball handler then in the past and will play sound positional defense. He likes it from mid to the three and will use his sturdy frame to score in the lane.

[player_tooltip player_id='1834032' first='Amir' last='Muhammad'] Imagine Prep

A brand new senior for me is fast and athletic. He is a super long guard who can get downhill in the paint and score on layups or floaters plus he will sit down and defend. He brings a lot of energy to both sides of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1830838' first='Dante' last='Landis'] Bradshaw Mtn

A physical power forward who plays with a high motor. He is a true rebound chaser and uses his size, desire, will, broad shoulders and length. He scores it inside the paint but can step out to the perimeter. He will run the floor, set picks and do his job. He has a local offer from Yavapi College.

[player_tooltip player_id='1306004' first='Dominick' last='Tarrant'] Desert Edge

A thicker lefty wing forward. He is skilled out to the three point line and plays a smart floor game. He can rattle off perimeter jumpers, he plays physical defense inside and moves the ball to open teammates. He had a nice career in the West Valley.

[player_tooltip player_id='1202070' first='David' last='Jackson Jr'] NFL YET

A powerfully built guard likes getting into the lane. He has a thicker frame and a nose for putting the ball into the basket. He uses his strength, tighter handle and quick burst to score in the paint. He can pull-up from mid-range and will defend a few positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='1128215' first='Jason' last='Higgins'] Sunrise Mountain

A long power forward is raw but dripping with upside. He went from 6'4 to 6'7 recently and his body is shaping up. He makes his money on the defensive end with his length and physicality. He will run the floor, play strong post defense and grab rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1278778' first='William' last='Dixion'] Canyon Del Oro

A physical combo guard with long arms and defensive instincts. He will challenge players at the rim with his bounce and length to block shots. He rebounds the ball at a good clip for a guard and gets downhill with longer strides.

[player_tooltip player_id='1177607' first='Isaiah' last='Lassiter'] Desert Vista

A scoring guard who plays tough defense. He comes with deep three point range and plays a physical brand of ball. He takes it hard inside the paint and can carve out some space with his girth and toughness.
