Continue ReadingPalm transferred into McEachern this year from Alabama and quickly earned a spot near the top of the state rankings. He’s a long, athletic big that can rim protect and rebound at a high-level. Offensively, he’s a powerful finisher at the cup. Anytime he can get a clean jump, Palm is dunking it with authority. Alabama and Alabama St are his only offers to my knowledge.
Mekhi Ragland Mekhi Ragland 6’10” | C Berkmar | 2025 State #400 Nation GA is a New Jersey native that’s made the most of his time in Georgia, steadily rising in stock ever since he touched down in the fall. Ragland’s combination of size and skill is really something to marvel at. He’s a huge 6’10 center that can step out and spray it from three, square up from the high post, or score from the low block. His spring campaign is already off to a hot start, a consensus top performer at OTR’s The Opening.
Jackson McVey Jackson McVey 7’1″ | C Gilmer | 2025 State #192 Nation GA ‘s height gives him a clear advantage to begin with, the only 7-footer in Georgia’s 2025 class. His offensive skillset is beginning to round out and he’s shown the ability to step out and hit the three here and there. Defensively, McVey is an elite rim protector with an impressive block radius. Still a work in progress, McVey’s best basketball is still ahead of him.
Highlights
Region 2-1A Player of the Year, Elyiss Williams Elyiss Williams 6’9″ | C Camden County | 2025 State GA was one of the biggest breakout stars in this year’s playoffs, anchoring the paint for Charlton County in a deep playoff run in which they took down unanimous favorite Greenforest. A football stud too, Williams has a solid 6’9 frame of pure muscle and impressive coordination skills. He’s great around the paint, blocking shots and hitting the boards hard. It’s still early but Elyiss Williams Elyiss Williams 6’9″ | C Camden County | 2025 State GA could be a big time prospect in both football and basketball.
Savannah High School has an intriguing group of youngsters headlined by Deshawn Davis Deshawn Davis 6’9″ | C Savannah | 2025 State GA and Maki Joyner Maki Joyner 6’5″ | SG Savannah | 2025 State #376 Nation GA , both of which are positioned to generate some buzz this spring. Davis is a big 6’9 athlete that’s still raw but very impactful on the boards and around the rim. He moves extremely well for a player his size too, active on defensive rotations and quick to get off the ground. Davis should have the opportunity to create a lot of buzz this spring with Wood Elite on the OTR circuit.
