These two teams where on a collision course for some time now. The noticeable difference was that DNA Prep was no longer wearing their Black and yellow jerseys. Oakland Soldiers came out in a zone and kinda caught Team Why Not off guard. When they got settled in they were able to find JJ Sati-Greir as he was the gunner on the baseline for two and the tone was set. It was going ot be a chess match.
On the other side of the ball Joshua Agbo started the scoring with a tough straight line drive that met resistance but the lefty push out lay found the glass and the basket.
Very well coached game by both teams.
Prime Time Players
Adan Diggs || Team Why Not ||
Although the defense was pushing Adan out a little too far for his comfort early in the game he found a way to adjust and attack the zone that seemed to have multiple defenders waiting to collapse on him. On the defensive end he had some really active hands that allowed him to create offense for himself as he does a great job of running the floor and filling lanes to stay in the line of sight and passing lane as well. When defenders reach he teaches for sure as he gets that quick first step out and he gets in the lane. Should’ve had some AND 1’s that should have been called but he finished either way.
Boss Mhoon || Oakland Soldiers Grey ||
Boss is one of the bigger players on the team and his ability to be a hybrid forward that can handle the ball came in handy because the pressure started to pick up early and he was able to be patient with his dribbling because he would not commit to dribbling right off the bat, his patience allowed him to use that dribble wisely. When the defense broke down he moved well away from the ball and his team found him multiple times as he knocked down a few three-pointers. Movement and cutting is a HIGH IQ quality that you got to see in this highly contested game.
Jaki Miles || Oakland Soldiers ||
His ability to stay calm in the moment was really impressive as he would handle the ball with confidence and he would get to his spots in the mid range. You can tell that the game plan was to put the big man in the pick and roll and they exposed that all day as he was coming off and scoring at will.
