They kicked off the Spring season with their signature event the Kingz and Queenz of the City tournament which features teams from throughout the west region. With the game going more the way of combo guards, it was nice to see a huge crop of pure PGs’s, in fact there were so many, we had to separate them into categories. There were several smaller guards with quickness and skill. In this article, we look at some of the top Jitterbug PG’s from the event.
David Rossling
David Rossling
Rossling is an entertaining scorer, who has a nice array of finishing moves. He was good with runners and floaters around the rim, and finished his layups on drives. He also showed a nice outside touch knocking down both threes and some mid range jumpers.
CJ Johnson
CJ Johnson
Johnson has some major wiggle, call it flair, call it pizzazz, call it whatever you want, he plays with it. Showed quickness with the ball, along with a unique vision and the ability to deliver on time and on target passes to teammates. This is when he wasn’t getting to the rack, and finishing. The 5’7 PG was one of the most exciting players to watch at the event.
Jordan Nava
Jordan Nava
Nava is a highly skilled floor general, that was able to handle against pressure as well as finish transition layups. He played with good speed, showing the ability to get out and finish in transition.
Chase Forman
Chase Forman
Foreman has what I call a natural handle. He seemed to have all the COD’s and used them at the exact right time. Foreman evaded, hard charging defenders with behind the back dribbles, avoided charges with spin moves, and was able to use well timed between the legs dribbles to beat full court pressure.
Christopher Harris
Christopher Harris
I can’t wait to see Harris play again. Although standing just over 5 feet tall, he played with the biggest heart. When he wasn’t knocking down cold blooded jumpers, he was playing dogged on ball defense, or driving to the lane and finishing over taller defenders. Harris was one of the most competitive players I saw play all weekend.
Taylor Owens
Taylor Owens
Owens is a player that may make one of my All Dime Dropping teams in the future. He has the type of vision that you look for in young PG’s, and was able to fit some of his passes in the tiniest of spaces. The PG played with a solid IQ, putting defenders in a bind before making the decesion to shoot or pass.
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez
Rodriguez is a floor spacing PG, that could have easily made my all sniper team. The diminutive PG, was a sniper from behind the arc, knocking down several long range threes throughout the week for his Flight squad.
Pierce Harrington
Pierce Harrington
Harrington was a lot of fun to watch. It wasn’t uncommon to see the curly hair PG speeding to the rim to finish plays. He competed with a ton of confidence, all while showing the ability to handle against pressure, and knock down open shots.
JaCre Kidd
JaCre Kidd
Not sure if I’m having an All Tough Guy team, but Kidd would be going on it. For starters although standing just under 5 feet, he did the majority of damage all from within 2. Kidd snaged more offensive rebounds than any player his size should, and he scored a bunch of interior buckets, including scoring off post up opportunities.
