<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>March 2nd-4th I watched four State Finals of 4A-OPEN at Arizona Veterans' Memorial Coliseum in Phx, AZ. There were some incredible games along the way including the 2OT battle between Highland defeating Brophy in exciting fashion. He hit big shot after big shot. He hit pull-ups from mid-range off the catch and off the bounce plus hit one difficult turnaround J. He made some good passes for assists and plays the right way. He scored 14 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1674458' first='Travis' last='Vasquez'] Deer Valley</strong> </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A true combo guard who handles pressure well and is shifty to create his own offense. His pull-up from mid-range is polished with high elevation and he is a way better passer then I gave him credited with. He sees the court better then most and often gets himself into the paint and then will find a teammate. He can shoot it from deep and has some moxie to compete.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1124550' first='Cohen' last='Ferguson'] Campo Verde</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A steady performer can score it a variety of ways. He can hit the catch three plus likes it from mid-range. He gets good elevation on his shots and can score on put backs. He has good body control in the lane and plays strong defense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1334763' first='Calvin' last='Windley'] Peoria</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Panthers have a couple glue guys who will do anything it takes to win. Windley is one of them but he can also score. When he was not in foul trouble, he was a problem from stopping him from going downhill. He grabs out of area rebounds and will push it and score it with tough contested layups, floaters and euros. He will block shots and literally guard the 1-5.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='937194' first='Conner' last='Ivy'] Brophy Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long lefty combo forward defends many positions for the Broncos. The lefty forward can score getting to the rim with runners and will rebound and block shots. He is a smart passer to find teammates for scores and he can get himself to the free throw line. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='937199' first='Jayden' last='Sleeper'] Deer Valley</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A tough undersized scoring lead guard is a fun watch. He is an extremely tough kid to defend you up the court plus get downhill to the basket. He uses a very quick burst to get to rim and he can also throw a perfect lob pass to a teammate. He will rattle in threes and be a spark off the bench.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='831129' first='Eric' last='Perkins'] Deer Valley</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A skilled combo guard is a natural scorer. He has the floater game plus he can step back off the dribble. He is sneaky quick to burst by his defenders and he can get hot quickly from the three point line. He scored 13 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1485864' first='Justin' last='Garcia'] Campo Verde</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top shooters in the class. He squares up flawlessly and gets a clean look every attempt. He has a fast trigger and gets it out before the defenders close out. He is quick to burst past his opponents and he stays in motion so the defenders can't track him easily.   </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
