The end of the high school season is the best time to throw a fresh update on class rankings and our latest 2024 update went live on Monday. In this piece we take a look at some of the top newcomers to our 2024 rankings which include some players who were in SoCal already and had big seasons and some who moved into the area and proved their worth.

[player_tooltip player_id='1817946' first='Jaden' last='Karuletwa'], Village Christian, No. 39

Karuletwa is a smooth shooting guard/wing who really caught our eye at the State Preview Classic. At 6-feet-5 with a long and wiry frame, Karuletwa has an intriguing combination of positional size to go along with his elite shooting ability off the catch. The thing we liked most about when we saw him was the fact that he scored effortlessly and without needed a ton dribbles to make things happen.

[player_tooltip player_id='1817907' first='Amare' last='Campbell'], Etiwanda, No. 54

Campbell is one part of the guard duo from Etiwanda you'll see on this list. While the 6-footer shared ball-handling and distributing duties with his back-court mate, Campbell stood out on the defensive end as most Eagles' guards do. His ability to speed up opposing guards with his on-ball pressure and ball-hawking ways off-the-ball when playing passing lanes are the things college coaches want to see in their lead guards on that end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1817913' first='Andrew' last='Nagy'], Orange Lutheran, No. 55

Nagy is one of the better big men in a class that doesn't have a whole lot of them. The 6-foot-8 forward/center is a fluid and active rim-runner in transition who can catch, gather and finish fluidly through or over contact. Nagy also flashed his low-block scoring skill-set in the half-court setting often this season. He has touch when finishing over either shoulder and fundamental footwork on either block.

[player_tooltip player_id='1643024' first='Tanner' last='Jones'], Campbell Hall, No. 56

We've written about Jones quite often over the last few months and it's because he showed that he's an efficient scorer from multiple levels of the floor. The 6-foot-3 off-guard is a threat on catch and shoot three-pointers but is also a guy who can knockdown a well-balanced and well-elevated pull-up jumper off the dribble. Jones' strong frame and good transition athleticism made him a tough cover when he got downhill and to the basket on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='1817908' first='Carrington' last='Pierce'], Etiwanda, No. 63

As mentioned above, Pierce is the other part of Etiwanda's talented guard duo and his ability to control pace, identify good transition opportunities from bad ones, and get two feet in the lane to score or set up a teammate is what catapulted the Eagles to another great season. Pierce, like Campbell, is an elite on-ball and team-concept defender.
