Sam “The Show” Glandt scored his first varsity points against Wahpeton on 1/24. The Show typically plays 1 half of C-team and 2 on JV. Sam has been super productive on the offensive side of the ball and he is starting to find a leadership role. Skill and strength wise, Glandt does not look like a freshman out there! The lefty can stroke the 3-ball, cash in mid-range J’s, and score at the rack with muscle or with some flair. He has some swag to his game and I like his toughness. He is a handworker and I know he puts in the time to improve his game. Glandt seems to be a fierce competitor and will do whatever it takes to win and help his teammates. Keep your eyes on The Show!
On most nights he plays 2 halves of JV and 1 on varsity, on some nights he plays a full game of varsity. Brylee typically sees 8-14 minutes of varsity action per game. Brylee has been averaging 30-33 mins in JV. Bears Tail has been putting up 20 plus points and 10 plus rebounds per game. In varsity action, Riley often guards 4 and 5 men and he holds his own. His strengths on varsity are shooting, defense, and rebounding. He is a cool customer on the court, Brylee has the length of a forward and is skilled like a PG. His scoring acumen is impressive and it is easy see that Brylee is a stud in the making.
On most nights he plays 2 halves of JV and 1 on varsity, on some nights he plays a full game of varsity. Rylee typically sees 8-14 minutes of varsity action per game. Much like his brother in JV, Rylee is putting up 20 plus points and 10 plus rebounds while playing 30-33 minutes a game. Rylee guards 1-5 on the defensive end and his strengths are shooting, defense, and creating for others. Bears Tail is gifted with the ball, his handles are top-notch and his passing/vision is special. Rylee has a ton of ability as a playmaker and a creator. The Bears Tail twins are a scary combo and Mandan is lucky to have them in their program.
He is getting good burn for the Spoilers this season. Grafton has a 9-6 record and they will be in contention to win Region 2 once we get into March. He has good height as his wingspan is expansive. He handles the rock well on the perimeter and he is a legit shooter from beyond the arc. His shot is fluid and he has little trouble getting it off with his length. Rice can do work off the bounce and his finishing touch is soft. As rice adds more weight and muscle, he is going to be a monster. I really like his game and potential.
He is having a fantastic season and I would not be surprised if Earl “The Pearl” was an All-Region Player by the end of the season. Raeshaun is averaging 15.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.8 apg, and 2.4 spg. The Pearl has made 36 triples on the year and is shooting 32.4% from beyond the arc. He is a special young player. Earl has a high basketball IQ. Earl is explosive and athletic. He attacks the basket with aggression and he is a great finisher. Earl also has an impressive step-back jumper. He still commits some of those freshman errors, but he learns from them quickly. The Pearl got his feet wet last year as an 8th grader but got injured and had to sit the rest of the season while healing. He has physically matured since last year. There is no ceiling for this young man! Raeshaun is easy to coach and one of the most respectful athletes that the Hankinson coaching staff has been around. This kid has STAR POWER!
Highlights
Christian is having an outstanding season for the Saints. From the very first game at Shanley he has been only been playing one half of JV and both halves of varsity. As the year has progressed, he has worked up from playing anywhere from 16-20 minutes a game to now closer to 22-26 minutes a game. Chris has a great feel for the game on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he is hard to keep in front as he has a quick first step and keeps you off balance with his shiftiness. Benning has a great touch with the ball and can get his shot off quickly. His ability to shoot the floater anywhere within 15 feet is exceptional and does a nice job anticipating who will be open when he drives. He stands out with his ability to score the ball and knock down shots from the outside but he also does a nice job passing up a good shot for a great shot. Benning has improved tremendously, throughout the season, with his ability to guard the ball and have a sense of urgency with his rotations on defense. He is currently second on the St. Mary team in scoring. He and Jacob Goettle Jacob Goettle 6’4″ | PF Bismarck St. Mary | 2023 State ND are the only 2 players averaging double figures on the season. Benning has scored 18-22 pts 2-3 times this season. Chris is one of the top up-and-coming guards in the WDA!
The Miners are 14-2 and ranked #8 in the State. Braylen shoots a hot 42% from beyond the arc. He currently averages 7.5 ppg. Schirado has been a nice offensive boost for the Miners as a 9th grader. Braylen comes off the bench and he shoots it from deep at a high rate. He has been an impact player from 3-point land. Schirado also gives the Miners another good ballhandler and he can make plays off the bounce. He works hard at his craft and he projects to have a bright future. Shirado had 20 points tonight and he knocked down 6 triples in the Miner win!
He is a key role player for the 13-4 Bearcats. He has good size and if he ends up like his older brother Dane Hagler Dane Hagler 6’4″ | SG North Star | 2024 ND , he will be a special player. Hunter is strong and physical and he plays his heart out. Like any frosh, he has room to improve his skill, but you have to love his athleticism/size/physicality. He is advanced for his age as a defender and rebounder. Hunter has basketball in his blood and his future looks bright!
This kid is a STUD. He has been too good, Bieber is now in the the Demon varsity rotation. Wilhelm had no choice, Grant has had a fantastic season. When Bieber was playing at the sophomore level, he was scoring around 30 points a game! Earlier this season in Dickinson, Bieber went berserk and score 40 in a single game. He started the year slow while nursing some injuries/sickness, but Bieber is now playing like a “Diaper Dandy”! Grant is thin but has a good frame and he will certainly get stronger. Keep an eye on this young Demon!
He has been playing C-team and JV. Beckett “Bucket” Pfau has went OFF a few times in JV and has put up some gaudy numbers. Beckett is a high energy player that never stops moving. He is a combo guard with a good head on his shoulders. Bucket is a creative scorer but he is also unselfish. Pfau has potential on the defensive side and I am sure that the Packer coaching staff has Beckett earmarked as a future guard for the coming years.
