Continue ReadingUp at Lumpkin County, they’ve got a stud athlete named Cal Faulkner Cal Faulkner 6’0″ | CG Lumpkin County | 2025 State GA that’s opening a lot of eyes, both on the court and the football field. Earlier this season, Faulkner set the school record with 49 points in a single game against Lakeview Academy. He exhibits patience in the offense and has a great feel for the game at a young age. His 3-point stroke is consistent and he doesn’t need to be stationary to knock it down. Great body control around the rim as well. Faulkner has the potential to be a big-time stock riser this spring with the Atlanta All-Stars.
Carter Mccarn Carter Mccarn 6’6″ | SG Georgia Force Christian | 2025 State GA is another guy that flys under the radar because of where he plays. McCarn is homeschooled and plays for Georgia Force Christian but is doing everything he can to put his name on the map. Just last week, he set the school record with 13 three-pointers in one game, finishing with 41 points. He’s got great size for a shooting guard at 6’5 and should continue to fill out which will help him around the basket. I think the biggest question around McCarn is the competition he’s playing against so hopefully he’ll face some tougher teams on the spring circuit and show what he can do.
Highlights
Madison County is having a great year at 24-2 and Grant Smith Grant Smith 6’3″ | SG Madison County | 2025 State GA has been a key contributor for them since he stepped into high school. I think Smith is one of the most lethal shooters in the state, if not the most. He’s got a quick trigger and doesn’t need a ton of space to get it off. In his sophomore year, he’s proven to be much more than a shooter and has shown impressive strides as a passer. Smith’s size and athleticism check the boxes as well. Grant Smith Grant Smith 6’3″ | SG Madison County | 2025 State GA is a name that should continue to rise up boards over the next few years.
Scott Stevens
Scott Stevens
Scott Stevens is a relatively new name to me but he’s putting together a sophomore campaign worthy of attention. Last week, Stevens exploded for 32 points in an overtime win against North Clayton. He’s an excellent shot maker from all over the floor, often hitting tough stepbacks or off-balance jumpers. He’s got deep range on his outside shot and can hit catch-and-shoot threes on demand. Stevens will be joining the Atlanta Celtics this spring and should compliment their group nicely as a knockdown shooter.
Tamiel Green
Tamiel Green
It seems as if 2025 bigs are the hot commodity in Georgia right now, coming few and far between but Tamiel Green is rarely a part of that conversation. Green is a big body inside, at 6’8 and 270 pounds. He moves his feet better than most that size and still has plenty of time to develop. Around the basket, Green has a nice touch and cleans up a lot of offensive boards. If he can become a legit scorer from the low post, Green could be a very attractive college prospect at the end of the day. I’m very interested to see where Green ends up playing this spring as he could be a major stock riser with the right program.
