The Friday Combo. Tonight is the perfect chance to catch a quality pair north of the metro. See top ten squad Mora play 16-5 Milaca High School at 5:45 and then when that game is over make the drive to see one of the rising juniors in the state in Blake Femrite Blake Femrite 6'2" | PG Spectrum | 2024 State MN – who is averaging 21 points a game – lead his 17 win Spectrum team into Pine City who is always fun to watch play. That’s a top ten team having a big challenge followed by a really good Spectrum squad on the road just 25 miles away at 7:30!
Friday’s Best. Cass Lake-Bena makes their case for number one tonight when they try and avenge their lone loss of the season (they are at Nevis tonight). The Panthers beat top ten ranked Cherry last night led by 26 points from Dominic Staples-Fairbanks which is another reason many feel they are number one (RTR’s depth and undefeated record make a good case as well). Here are tonight’s match-ups to watch!
One. Devan Lindow Devan Lindow 6'1" | PG State MN (N) vs Dominic Staples-Fairbanks (CLB). A fantastic PG match-up, you may see Dominoc on Houchin and Lindow defended by a Panther win but either way, these are the playmakers for their teams.
Two. Joe Houchin Joe Houchin 5'10" | PG Nevis | 2024 State MN (N) vs Tateyn Boswell (CLB). Houchin can produce, Boswell plays a nice role for his team.
Three. Austin Ahrendt Austin Ahrendt 6'2" | SG Nevis | 2024 State MN (N) vs Kaydin Lee Kaydin Lee 5'10" | SG Cass Lake-Bena | 2024 MN (CLB). The wings that can score, Lee is having a big number season at 22/23 points a game.
Four. John Paul Benson John Paul Benson 6'2" | SF Nevis | 2024 State MN (N) vs Kingsley Whitebird (CLB). Whitebird is often the third option, Benson is the three point game changer that can swing this game.
Five. Alex Lester Alex Lester 6'7" | C Nevis | 2025 State MN (N) vs Cole Cross (CLB). Lester is a 6’6 low post player, Cross is the active Panther forward.
Bang For the Buck. There is no single location event that I can find and I only see 31 games on the Saturday schedule. And when I look to a place where you can get up early and do a little driving but see good hoops I see…..
a listed 10:30am top off at Caledonia between the Warriors and Triton! From there make an hour drive….
A 1pm match-up between Lyle/Austin Pacelli at PEM which is two teams just outside of the top ten and it includes standouts (and former AAU teammates with the Lightning) Buay Koka, Aeron Stevens Aeron Stevens 6'7" | PF Plainview-Eligin-Millville | 2023 State MN and Kaidern Peters.
When that is done you can make the 23 miles to see Winona play at Rochester John Marshall!
Thinking metro? How about this list!
St. Paul Washington at St. Paul Johnson at 1pm, then a quick drive to…..
