The Rams have not had the best season. But they’re finally healthy and ready to make another un in the 2A playoffs. Benet would hold on for a tight 47-43 win. Here are some of my top takes from the game.
Benet is still the team to beat in 4A
The score looked a lot closer than most thought. But Benet was in control of this game throughout. They dominated on defense and found a solid rhythm on offense. The Redwings stay hot and should have the best odds to win the 4A state championship. From Niko Abusara to Brady Kunka Brady Kunka 6'4" | SG Benet Academy | 2023 State IL to Brady Nash, these guys can hoop.
Look out for Brady Nash
Brady Nash was hot from the start. He knocked down several open looks from deep early on and found some nice plays at the hoop. He displays decent size for a forward to go along with that. Nash led all scorers today with 16 points.
Jaylan McElroy Jaylan McElroy 6'7" | PF DePaul Prep | 2024 State #262 Nation IL Excelled Down Low
McElroy had a strong outing for DePaul. He was the lengthiest player on the court and produced at a high rate on both ends. McElroy finished with 9 points with a couple of tough rebounds and blocks on the defensive end. He’s also capable of attacking the hoop with a nice baseline drive early on. The 2024 product has been getting several mid-major looks.
PJ Chambers is a Guard to Watch in 2024
This might have been a breakout game for Chambers. He stepped up immensely and gave DePaul a chance to win this game. He knocked down an outside shot and followed it up with a pull-up jumper right after. This cut their deficit in half early on. Chambers displays strong athleticism and can burst to the hoop. He also showed solid playmaking abilities throughout the contest.
