Gonzalez was hurt to begin the year but has come back strong and is having a great senior season. A good athlete, Gonzalez highlight tape is filled with dunks and impressive outside shooting clips. Gonzalez can also make an impact as a help side rim protector due to his vertical pop and strength. That strength also allows him to attack the basket and finish through contact in the paint. The Youngstown area doesn’t receive the attention that some other parts of the state get but Gonzalez should be looked at by scholarship programs.
One of the most productive players in the GMC, Matthews has been one of the top scorers in the league during his Junior and Senior seasons. Currently third in the league in scoring, Matthews is a volume shooter who can get hot in a hurry on the right night and take over a game. A fiery competitor, Matthews competes every time he steps on the floor. Small college programs should check Matthews out as a guard who can score the ball and has been productive against tough competition.
