Below is review of eight players who posted standout performances in Wednesday night’s post season contests.
Sultan Adewale Sultan Adewale 6'8" | SF Neumann-Goretti | 2023 State #205 Nation PA – 6’9″ / Senior / Neumann-Goretti / Team Rio University / Small Forward: The top uncommitted interior prospect in the region put on a show last night at The Palestra. Adewale (15ppg. & 10 rpg.) dominated the paint and feasted on second chance opportunities. Adewale netted 20 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and swatted several shot attempts. College coaches are still sleeping on this prospect.
JT Anderson – 6’2” / Junior / Unionville / PA Hoops Academy / Combo Guard: We knew Anderson could score in the mid-range game and by getting to the cup. But last night he proved that the range on his silky jumper extends out to the arc. Anderson dropped 15 points (2 threes) in the Longhorns District 1-5A 2nd round playoff win over Upper Merion.
Jalil Bethea Jalil Bethea 6'4" | SG Archbishop Wood | 2024 State #5 Nation PA – 6’4” / Junior / Archbishop Wood / Team Final EYBL / Shooting Guard: This season Bethea (23 ppg.; 46% on threes) has proven to be one of the top shooting guards in Pennsylvania. Last night at in PCL semifinal he drained 3 triples on his way to 22 points. Unfortunately, that was not enough for Wood to get past Roman Catholic. His improved ability to score off the bounce is noteworthy. Bethea holds numerous offers including ones from Miami, Villanova, UCLA, and Rutgers.
Ryan Brown Ryan Brown 6'3" | CG Unionville | 2024 State PA – 6’3″ / Junior / Unionville / PA Hoops Academy / Shooting Guard: We love it when an under the radar prospect simply goes off in a post season game and leads his squad to victory. That is exactly what happened last night as Brown (11.5 ppg.) splashed home 4 threes and scored 25 points overall. Brown’s length and instincts enable him to be a solid team defender too.
Xzayvier Brown Xzayvier Brown 6'1" | PG Roman Catholic | 2023 State #233 Nation PA – 6’1″ / Senior / Roman Catholic / K Low Elite / Point Guard: Brown (St. Joe’s commit) is one of the elite three-level scoring guards in SEPA. Last night his poise in a chaotic atmosphere at The Palestra was impressive as well. His skills and composure produced 22 points (2 threes) during Roman’s win over PCL rival West Catholic.
Ian Schlesinger – 6’4″ / Senior / WC- Bayard Rustin / Delaware Ignite / Small Forward: Schlesinger is a dead eye shooter who rung up 23 points on 5 threes as Rustin (12-seed) upset heavily favored WC East (4-seed) in the District 1-5A 2nd round. We have previously spotlighted Schlesinger asa prospect who coaches need to learn more about and now you know why.
Adrien Varella Adrien Varella PA – 6’2″ / Sophomore / Holy Ghost Prep / Philly Pride Bucks / Small Forward: Varella is a 2025 prospect who has quietly assembled a fantastic season for the Firebirds. His ability to hit jumpers of every variety should grab the attention of college coaches. After scoring 16 points in the opening round of District 1-5A play, last night Varella contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds in HGP’s 2nd Round loss to Chichester.
Amir Williams Amir Williams 6'6" | SF Neuman-Goretti | 2024 State PA – 6’5″ / Junior / Neumann-Goretti / Team Final EYBL / Wing: This athletic prospect with a long wingspan and a feathery shooting touch played with ice in veins last night during Goretti’s PCL semifinal victory. The intense fourth quarter featured a raucous crowd at The Palestra, but Williams was not bothered as he calmly sank back-to-back corner threes in clutch time to seal NG’s win over West Catholic. Williams scored 17 points overall.
