The first quarter ended with the score tied at twelve. Neshaminy then outscored Boyertown 16-2 in the 2nd quarter and never looked back. Neshaminy won the game 62-48.
Below is a review of the college prospects who participated in the Boyertown vs. Neshaminy, District 1-6A first round contest.
Boyertown
Richard Black – 6’6” / Senior / Eastern PA Elite / Power Forward: Black’s potential as a college stretch-4 was on display last night. He drained a three, scored in the paint, rebounded at both ends and played solid defense. Black notched 5 points in this game.
Jake Kapp Jake Kapp 6'3" | SF Boyertown | 2023 State PA – 6’3” / Senior / Eastern PA Elite / Small Forward: In this game Neshaminy was extremely focused on stopping Kapp (One of the PAC’s leading scorers at 17 ppg.). Thus, he battled through extra defensive attention and significant contact all night. Kapp still managed to score with his back to the basket and via the jumper on his way to 7 points.
Dylan Klass – 6’3” / Senior / Eastern PA Elite / Small Forward: We came away from this game extremely impressed with the versatile skill set of this 2023. Klass popped two treys in this game. Additionally, he finished in transition and through traffic after receiving drop passes on the blocks. Klass (19 points) scored off the dribble too. He competed on the glass as was a plus defensive player.
Ryan Tinney – 5’10” / Senior / Eastern PA Elite / Combo Guard: Tinney did not crack the scoring column, but his ability to distribute and get Boyertown’s into their sets was noteworthy. He plays with a great deal of composure. He is a menacing on-ball defender as well.
Zach Ward – 6’5” / Senior / Eastern PA Elite / Wing: Ward (4 points) dabbles with a unique point-forward role for Boyertown. He recognized Klass had the hot hand and dropped dimes to him for several buckets. Ward possesses deep range on his accurate jumper and rebounds the ball at both ends.
Neshaminy
Emeer Combs – 5’9” / Junior / Mt. Pleasant Bulldogs / Point Guard: We were impressed with Combs’ play on the summer 2022 grassroots circuit and the last night he stole the show. The quick and muti-skilled Combs poured in 23 points overall. Thirteen of which came during Neshaminy’s key 2Q burst. Combs splashed 5 triples last night. A couple from NBA distance. He scored off the dribble thanks to his explosive crossover. When the defense attempted to double him, Combs quickly and precisely moved the ball to an open teammate.
Sean Curley Sean Curley 6'0" | SG Neshaminy | 2023 State PA – 6’1” / Senior / Philly Pride Bucks / Shooting Guard: Curley recorded 15 points (2 threes) last night mostly via his silky-smooth jumper. From the baseline to the mid-range to the arc, Curley understands how to create space for himself to get easy looks. He is more athletic than opponents think. Plus, he owns a high basketball IQ and good footwork.
Nate Townsend Nate Townsend 6'2" | CG Neshaminy | 2024 State PA – 6’2” / Junior / Mt. Pleasant Bulldogs / Combo Guard: This versatile guard has the speed, instincts and finishing skills to excel in transition. In the half court, he can score in a variety of ways. Townsend’s thick frame enables him to play bully ball. His high percentage jumper qualifies him to serve as a spot up shooter. As a bonus, Townsend (9 pts.) owns enough dribble skills to blow past a defender for a mid-range J or a lay-in.
