5A District-1
Teams: Atrisco Heritage, Cibola, Cleveland, Rio Rancho and Volcano Vista.
District Player of the Year: Kenyon Aguino Kenyon Aguino 6'7" | PF Volcano Vista | 2025 State #257 Nation NM “Volcano Vista”
The Sophomore Star is having a special year for the Volcano Vista Hawks. He is averaging around 19 points per game and 9 rebounds per game for the Hawks. He led Volcano Vista to a 7-1 record en route to another district title. They went 7-1 during district play and are the projected #1 seed for the 2023 Boys State Tournament coming up in a few weeks.
5A District-2
Teams: Eldorado, Farmington, La Cueva, Piedra Vista, Sandia and West Mesa.
District Player of the Year: Andrew Hill Andrew Hill 6'2" | CG Sandia | 2023 State NM “Sandia”
Andrew Hill Andrew Hill 6'2" | CG Sandia | 2023 State NM has led the Sandia Matadors to their first district title since the 2021 season. They are well positioned for a deep playoff run during the state tournament. He has led Sandia in scoring averaging 16.5 points per game this year and 4.2 assists per game which ranks among the top in New Mexico. The Sandia Matadors went 8-2 in district play and won the district first place tiebreaker game vs West Mesa thanks to his clutch shooting and scoring.
5A District-3
Teams: Alamogordo, Centennial, Gadsden, Las Cruces, Mayfield and Organ Mountain.
District Player of the Year: Brandon Kehres “Organ Mountain”
Forward Brandon Kehres has been the best player on the best team in 5A District-3. He is a near double-double threat every night out with his scoring and rebounding. His 13 points per game and 8 rebounds per game helped the Knights win the district title going an impressive 9-1. They should secure a top-five seed for the 5A Boys State Tournament.
5A District-4
Teams: Carlsbad, Clovis, Hobbs and Roswell.
District Player of the Year: Michael Mackey “Hobbs”
Michael Mackey has been a sensation to watch this year. He has the Hobbs Eagles on the cusp of another playoff berth after finishing second in district to Carlsbad. He averaged an impressive 23.5 points per game which ranked second in the 5A Class while shooting an impressive 52% from the field.
5A District-5
Teams: Albuquerque, Capital, Los Lunas, Manzano, Rio Grande and Santa Fe.
District Player of the Year: Jalin Holland Jalin Holland 6'5" | SG Los Lunas | 2025 State #85 Nation NM “Los Lunas”
Not only is Jalin Holland Jalin Holland 6'5" | SG Los Lunas | 2025 State #85 Nation NM the number one prospect in New Mexico, he backed it up with his play throughout the season and district was nothing different. He averaged about 23 points per game and 8 rebounds per game throughout the season while leading Los Lunas to the district title and a tiebreaker win vs Rio Grande. His 23 points per game was the second most in 5A behind Hobbs; Michael Mackey.
