South Granville got their offense going right away and halfway through the first quarter, it was 8-1 before Greene Central would get things going. The Rams would match the energy to close out the quarter; before the quarter ended, the score was 18-17 South Granville.
In the second quarter, South Granville was much more patient on offense as they adjusted to the Greene Central defense. They would go on a run to extend their lead to 28-21 with 3:48 left in the first half following a 3-pointer from KJ Green KJ Green 6'1" | CG Granville Central | 2023 State NC . At the half, South Granville led Greene Central 36-28 while Pierce Pettit Pierce Pettit 6'4" | SG South Granville | 2024 State NC and Oliver Roberts Oliver Roberts 6'3" | CG South Granville | 2024 State NC combined for 18 total points.
In the third quarter, the Rams turned things up a notch thanks to the efforts of Amir Holmes. Greene Central trailed 39-37 with 3:06 left in the third quarter before going on a run to end the quarter and before we knew it, their fans were up and cheering with all of the momenta in the game. Holmes went off for 14 of his 20 total points in the third quarter and the Rams led 47-43.
South Granville started the quarter with their pressure full-court defense and looked to disrupt the Rams’ flow on offense. About halfway through, it worked as South Granville was off and on another 8-0 run and back in the lead 51-47 with 3:42 remaining.
As the fouls mounted up, points began to come at a premium for both sides. Greene Central went on a scoring drought of their own and only made two field goals in the fourth quarter while South Granville would go 10-of-16 from the free-throw line and hold onto the lead until the very end.
Final – South Granville 62 – Green Central 57
Defense set the tone for South Granville in this one as KJ Green KJ Green 6’1″ | CG Granville Central | 2023 State NC led the way for them with his five steals and points on the perimeter. They got contributions all-around from everybody in this one as Green looked to dish and space the floor when the ball wasn’t in his hands. He’s an unsigned senior who continues to show his growth on the floor as a defender and energy guy off the bench for the Vikings.
Pettit was shooting with all of the confidence in this one as he got South Granville going on offense to start the game and stayed in it with his ability to create off the bounce as well. He finished with 12 points and two made 3-pointers to show off what he could do on the perimeter.
Roberts was the closer once again down the stretch as he made some key free throws and layups to seal the victory for his squad. He finished with 16 points and a number of assists as he pushed the pace and kept his shooters involved on the perimeter. He was also key on the rebounding front as he finished with 10 rebounds to add a double-double to the scoresheet.

11 points, nine rebounds, five assists. That was the stat-line at the end of the afternoon for Traevon White as he did a little bit of everything to contribute to the victory. He does a lot of things other than score the ball to stay involved in the game and has improved tremendously on impacting the game outside of scoring.
