The Non-Public division in the Garden State is always competitive and it’s no different this season with eight undefeated teams. They are led by star players, but have also under the radar prospects who have been crucial to their team’s success. Here are the unsung heroes for the undefeated Non-Public teams in New Jersey.
Noah Barnett, 6’9 PF Don Bosco Prep 2023
Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'1" | CG Don Bosco Prep | 2024 State NJ has complimented Dylan Harper Dylan Harper 6'6" | SG Don Bosco Prep | 2024 State #3 Nation NJ in the backcourt, but Barnett has been the main post presence for the Ironmen this season. The 6’9 forward finishes with authority above the rim and has a nice touch around the basket. Barnett has an underrated handle and is capable of knocking down open jumpers on the perimeter. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his athleticism to swat shots on the defensive end. Barnett’s play down low has been vital for Don Bosco Prep this season and should continue to put up good numbers for them as 2023 continues.
Kamal Lee Kamal Lee 6'0" | PG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State NJ , 6’0 PG St. Thomas Aquinas 2023
Lee has been making plays for the Trojans over the past two seasons and is a reason why they are 9-0 in 2022-23. The Chestnut Hill commit has a good handle, which he uses to blow by his defender and finish around the rim. Lee plays with confidence on the court and has a nice release on his jumper. He gets his teammates involved in the halfcourt and plays with quick hands on defense. Lee is a two-way lead guard prospect who does what it takes to help his team win games.
Damir Stone Damir Stone 5'10" | CG St. Mary's Rutherford | 2023 State NJ , 5’11 SG St. Mary’s Rutherford 2023
Stone has done a little bit of everything for the Gaels, which is why they’re 7-0 so far this season. The 5’11 guard is at his best attacking the basket as he is a strong finisher around the rim and is unafraid of contact. Stone moves well without the ball in his hands and is an unselfish player. He is a good rebounder for a guard and makes plays on the defensive end. Stone is a versatile guard prospect who is unafraid of doing the dirty work at both ends of the floor.
David Alexandre David Alexandre 5'9" | PG Saddle River Day | 2023 State NJ , 5’9 PG Saddle River Day 2023
Alexandre paces the Rebels’ attack and has been key to their undefeated start this season. The TCNJ commit knows how to get to his spot on the floor and is a good finisher around the basket. Alexandre has a nice handle and runs the offense effectively on the perimeter. He is a solid rebounder and is an underrated defender. Alexandre has two 20-point games so far this season and should have more as the season goes on for Saddle River Day.
Davis Adams Davis Adams 6'4" | SF Immaculata | 2023 State NJ , 6’4 PF Immaculata 2023
Adams has been nearly unstoppable for Immaculata this season as the Spartans are currently 6-0 on the season. The 6’4 forward knows how to get position down low and has a nice touch around the basket. Adams sets good screens in the half court and is able to consistently draw contact down low. He is a force on the glass at both ends of the floor and blocks shots on the defensive end. Adams is a double-double machine who should continue to make plays for Immaculata this season.
Bryan Ebeling, 6’2 SG St. Rose 2025
Matt Hodge Matt Hodge 6'8" | PF St. Rose | 2024 State #104 Nation NJ and Jayden Hodge Jayden Hodge 6'5" | SG St. Rose | 2026 State NJ have been fantastic for the Purple Roses in 2022-23 with Ebeling emerging as their third scorer. The 6’2 guard has a good release on his jumper and sets his feet before he shoots. Ebeling rarely forces shots in the half court and moves well without the ball in his hands. He can finish around the basket and slides his feet on the defensive end. Ebeling’s consistency on the perimeter has been key for St. Rose as their transfers become eligible soon.
Thomas Semiraglio Thomas Semiraglio 6'2" | SG Bishop Eustace | 2025 State NJ , 6’4 SG Bishop Eustace 2025
Seniors James Ianelli James Ianelli 6'2" | PG Bishop Eustace | 2023 State NJ and Joseph Callahan have been key for the Crusaders this season, but Semiraglio’s play on the perimeter is a big reason they are 7-0 this season. The 6’4 guard has a clean shooting stroke and rises up with confidence on his jumper. Semiraglio is more than just a shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. He has the ability to run the offense in a pinch and makes good passes in the half court. Semiraglio’s ability to knock down shots from behind the arc is something that will help Bishop Eustace in a big way this season.
Donovan Fey, 6’4 SG Holy Cross Prep 2023
Fey has been consistent for the Lancers this season as he has scored in double figures in every game so far this season. The 6’4 guard knows how to get to the basket and can draw contact in the paint. Fey is more than just a slasher as he has a good release on his jumper and is unafraid of taking big shots in key situations. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and is an underrated rebounder. Fey may have to play more on the interior due to Holy Cross Prep’s lack of size, but his play has been crucial to their success so far this season.
