Williams has been a really effective scorer so far this season, as his shooting splits are 61/52/68. It’s what he does best night in and night out, as he always commands games for Henderson Collegiate and dictates with his finishing and mid-range game. When opponents leave him open, he makes them pay behind the arc with a smooth release and a knockdown shot. He’s one of the best pure scorers in the class and he should be playing collegiately because of it.
Anderson has made impressions across the state this year as a heady point guard who makes impacts all over the court. He’s a good scorer and shooter who loves spacing the floor and knocking down shots when his teammates find them. He’s also impressive getting downhill as he can both score and pass effectively, making him a tough cover for opposing defenders. Above all, he’s a gamer who is scrappy and plays with his heart on his sleeve. His passion and drive is what will continue to propel him higher and higher on state watchlists as the season continues to progress.
Highlights
Randall Pettus Randall Pettus 6’2″ | PG Bessemer City | 2023 State NC is a name that has blown up over the last twelve months across the Hoop State, but it’s easy to see why when you watch him play. He is so dynamic as a lead guard, both scoring and making plays for teammates. His shiftiness and quickness off the dribble allows him to dominate defenses and get to the rim with ease. When he’s not scoring, he can also thread passes through tight windows and play within himself in order to get his teammates involved. There’s potential for him to improve on the defensive end as well, with his athletic gifts showing opportunity to be a pest for opposing ball handlers. It will be fun to watch him with Darrin Horn and his Northern Kentucky squad next year running the show.
His teammate Keyshawn Adams Keyshawn Adams 6’6″ | PF Bessemer City | 2023 State NC is even more of an athletic machine than Pettus, and it shows with his stats. He’s averaging 16 points and 13 rebounds a game as a lengthy, thin wing who can score from outside as well as inside. He’s shooting the 3 ball at over 70% on a couple attempts per game, and his ability to finish at the rim is born out of his explosiveness as well as skill to finish through contact. If he or a teammate misses, he’s headed towards the glass to pull down rebounds and finish for second chance points, as he’s averaging around 4.5 offensive boards per game. He’s got all the tools to succeed at the collegiate level, and it’s only a matter of time before someone takes a swing on him and they’re rewarded.
Davonte Brooks
Davonte Brooks
Brooks is a statistical monster this year, posting 26 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game. He’s the engine that makes his Eastern Randolph team go, and they’ve picked up some impressive wins. He is fearless headed to the rim, looking for contact and finishing through guys. If he cannot finish, then he heads to the free throw line. Brooks is doing all of his damage rebounding wise on the offensive glass, flying through players and either putting back misses or coming down with them to make a play off the ground. He needs to be boxed out with multiple guys in order to keep him off the glass, which makes it hard for opponents to run in transition without risking him getting a rebound. He’s been a name that has shot up boards this year in terms of his output and skill level.
