Continue ReadingCedric Taylor Cedric Taylor 6’6″ | SF Drew Charter | 2023 State GA started my morning by putting on a show in the first half. Taylor hit 4 three-pointers and finished with 20 points, 18 of which came in the first half before sitting most of the second half in a blowout win. Taylor gets great elevation on his jumper and showed some deep range as well. He’s got a great feel for the game and when to be aggressive. Being the tallest player for Drew, Taylor is asked to hit the glass and did so effectively on Saturday. All of us at the media table were in agreement that Cedric Taylor Cedric Taylor 6’6″ | SF Drew Charter | 2023 State GA is surefire D1 talent. LM/MM schools still looking for a wing should take a hard look at Cedric Taylor Cedric Taylor 6’6″ | SF Drew Charter | 2023 State GA .
Trey Maxwell Trey Maxwell 6’4″ | SG North Mecklenburg | 2024 State NC played a huge part in North Mecklenburg’s 54-50 win over Milton and hit some big shots when they needed him to. Maxwell had a big 3rd quarter that helped swing momentum in North Meck’s favor. That’s when he began heating up from three and never really cooled down. He scored 20 points in the second half alone, 22 for the game, and hit 4 clutch free throws in crunch time to help secure the win. While Isaiah Evans had a somewhat quiet night, Trey Maxwell Trey Maxwell 6’4″ | SG North Mecklenburg | 2024 State NC and Christian Foy proved they can pull the weight too.
Isaac Martin Isaac Martin 6’1″ | PG King’s Ridge Christian School | 2023 State GA had another solid outing on Saturday and seems to always show up on the big stages. He did an excellent job of handling Goose Creek’s gritty, on-ball pressure. Martin finished with 15 points coming on 4 three-pointers and a couple of free throws. There were times when Jayden Cole or Zak Thomas Zak Thomas 6’0″ | PG King’s Ridge | 2023 State GA ran the point and Martin showed how affective he could be off the ball as a catch and shoot threat. Several D3 schools have been on Martin’s trail over the past year but he’s still yet to make a decision.
Milton was faced with a tall task on Saturday, taking on a powerhouse program like North Mecklenburg while Josh Dixon Josh Dixon 6’0″ | PG Milton | 2025 State #185 Nation GA was sidelined with a calf injury. However, Jacob Tillman Jacob Tillman 6’0″ | PG Lakeside-DeKalb | 2024 State GA certainly answered the call and didn’t miss a beat. Tillman started at the point and put up a quick 8 points in the first couple minutes to give Milton an 18-7 lead after the 1st quarter. He finished 19 and made some impressive plays with the ball in his hands. Tillman has some nice shake to his handle and was able to create offense off the bounce all night. Jacob Tillman Jacob Tillman 6’0″ | PG Lakeside-DeKalb | 2024 State GA will be an interesting one t follow over the next year and put a lot of people on notice Saturday.
Despite a tough loss to King’s Ridge, Shane Potts Shane Potts 6’1″ | CG Goose Creek | 2025 State SC was a bright spot for Goose Creek on Saturday. He gave them a nice spark off the bench, providing energy on both ends and adding 10 points as well. Potts is a long, athletic guard with lots of room to grow being just a sophomore. He proved to be a solid on-ball defender and was able to force multiple steals throughout the game. Potts also knocked down 2 three-pointers and showed off a good outside shot. Right now, Potts serves as a very effective 3 & D bench piece but could be much more than that when it’s all said and done.
