The top of the SWAC met on Wednesday night as Green Level High visited Holly Springs High for a matchup of conference supremacy. Take a look at the recap/standouts.

Green Level scored the first four points before Holly Springs would go on a 12-0 run to go up 3:47 left in the first quarter. Both offenses would slow down until about a minute left in the quarter before the Hawks would reel off five straight points and the Gators would score before the buzzer to make things 17-6 after 1.

Holly Springs would force some turnovers on defense and turn them into points on offense in the second. They jumped out to a 23-10 lead before Green Level would call timeout to gather themselves with 5:28 left in the half. Back-to-back 3-pointers from the Gators made it 23-16.

[player_tooltip player_id='1014990' first='Micah' last='Jones'] would take command though for the Holly Springs offense as they led 28-20 with 2:11 left in the half. Green Level made some adjustments too, letting [player_tooltip player_id='1667677' first='Isaac' last='Ericksen'] run the offense and the lead shrunk to 30-25 HS at the half.

Patient offense from the Gators to start the second half tied it up at 32 with 5:05 left in the third quarter. A 3-pointer from Tye Cain made it 35-32 before Holly Springs would answer with a putback and call a timeout to slow things down.

Both teams would trade leads as a dunk from [player_tooltip player_id='1698954' first='Will' last='James Jr']. made it 36-35 then a mid-range from [player_tooltip player_id='1754423' first='Israel' last='Eatman'] would answer back, making it 37-36, Green Level with 2:21 left in the third quarter.

Holly Springs would hold onto a slim lead, 41-37 but Green Level would keep it close. A Trey Manhertz lay-in would make it 41-39 with less than 10 seconds left but a layup from [player_tooltip player_id='1014990' first='Micah' last='Jones'] at the buzzer would make it 43-39 after three quarters of play.

Holly Springs maintained a 4-point lead 45-41 w/ 6:05 left in the game. With 2:40 left, they maintained a 49-43 lead. But Green Level wouldn't go away quietly.

They trailed 55-50 with 44.2 seconds left before a layup from [player_tooltip player_id='1667677' first='Isaac' last='Ericksen'] would make it 55-52 with 18.1 seconds left.

A missed free throw from Jones and foul against [player_tooltip player_id='1158778' first='Collin' last='Kuhl'] gave Green Level the ball with 13 seconds left; 55-52. A layup from Eatman layup made it 55-54 with 3.2 secs left but Green Level was unable to score after two made free throws from [player_tooltip player_id='997731' first='Houston' last='Wills'] to make it a 57-54 final.
<!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["1014990"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"Jones was impressive in taking charge of the offense down the stretch for Holly Springs.
