Combine Academy (NC) defeated Keystone Academy (PA) in overtime to start the event while Az Compass Prep (AZ) blew out Omnia Academy (Finland) in the nightcap. In this article we’ll break down the top performers from the action on Friday at Trent Arena.
Demary was the top performer of the day with a 28 point performance on 8/14 shooting from the field and a perfect 10/10 from the free throw line. Demary plays with great pace and uses the threat of the pull-up jumper to allow him to get into the lane at will. Once he beats the first defender Demary is able to finish off two feet with the floater or make the right pass. I’m a big fan of Demary after watching him over the summer and he once again showed why his stock is rising, in 247’s most recent update he cracked the top 60.

I love what Tanner brings to the table as a role player, doing all the little things it takes to win. Tanner seems to get a ton of loose balls, makes smart cuts and hits open shots. Those traits don’t even mention the tough defense Tanner plays every time he steps on the floor. Both Tanner and Demary played all 36 minutes in the overtime victory and Tanner’s experience and leadership was clear for his team. I think Tanner will get early minutes at Richmond as he just flat out helps you win. Tanner also isn’t a stat sheet stuffer but 19 points on 6/9 FG with four offensive rebounds and two assists to one turnover will get it done every day of the week.

Warren is one of my favorite players in the country to watch as I absolutely love his competitiveness that he brings to the court. An elite athlete, very few players in the country are as quick and can change speed/direction with the ball in his hands. Improving as a shooter, Warren knocked down three 3-pointers and a few mid-range jumpers. His best skill is his passing and despite only having three assists, he made some sick passes in this game.
Blanchet is a flat out shot-maker, going 6/13 from 3-point range and 0/4 from inside. Whenever Keystone needed a big shot, Blanchet was knocking it down and he was an effective zone buster for his team. Blanchet played a simple role but colleges need guys that can make outside shots and Blanchet has been doing that all season for Keystone Academy.

In his return to Ohio, Griffith helped Az Compass Prep to a comfortable victory. Griffith made shots from the corner and attacked the rim effectively. The game was a major blowout but you have to give credit to Az Compass Prep for playing hard, giving good defensive effort and sharing the basketball. Az Compass Prep is one of the top teams in the country based off talent, but their effort levels and coaching take them to the next level. It was nice to see Griffith have a good performance for the Bearcat fans that made the short trip north to watch the future Cincinnati wing.
