There were some exceptional games in Mecklenburg and surrounding areas as well. The best game was the overtime battle between conference rivals when North Meck went on the road and defeated Julius Chambers 77-74 in Overtime at the buzzer with a game-winning three from the Viking's [player_tooltip player_id='1154560' first='Isaiah' last='Evans']. The Butler Bulldogs moved to 8-4 in a two-point victory over the Cougars of Charlotte Catholic 52-50. Olympic pulled away in the second half to defeat the Sabres of South Meck. New will touch on some of the impact players in these games.

As the clock ticked down from seven and a half seconds, [player_tooltip player_id='1154560' first='Isaiah' last='Evans'] casually made his way up the court and made a game-winning three-pointer leaning to his right on the road defeating the Cougars at Chambers. The crowd fell silent as the Vikings and their fans celebrated. Evans had 35 points in the second half and overtime. Not a better scorer at all three levels in the country. He still has not even developed his real arsenal. His potential because of his scoring ability at all three levels and his ability to get to his spots makes him arguably the best player in the State in his class when he has it going. The 6'8" frame has college coaches throughout the country salivating. He finished the game with 45 points, Evans will only get better as the season progresses as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1338309' first='Jahmir' last='Brown'](Chambers)2023

Jahmir came to play against the Vikings. He was a man on a mission in the second half. He did everything he could to help his team win and he shot the ball well as the game progressed. He can slither and get inside and finish through contact. He feeds off energy on the defensive side and he only missed one shot within the three-point arc. He was concise with his shots and he was able to slash and get to the rim often in the game. He will be a player that should see some recruitment in the second half of the season if he continues to impress like this.

[player_tooltip player_id='1076364' first='Peter' last='Moye'](South Meck) 2024

Moye and the Sabres had a disappointing result on Friday, losing to the Olympic Trojans and More did everything with his teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2280463' first='Anderson' last='Skelton'] to win the game as they both scored 14 points. Moye is an exceptional shooter that has the opportunity to become one of the better shooters in the conference. The numbers will show that he is a shooter, now he is an underrated rebounder. If he becomes an even better playmaker Moye is a player that should play at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1104967' first='Zion' last='McDuffie'](Butler)2023

Zion finished the game with 25 points as he led his Butler Bulldogs over the Cougars of Charlotte Catholic. An uber-athletic wing standing at 6'5". He is an active defender, totaling numerous blocks in games last season in the summer and high school. He is an exceptional slasher that can finish above the rim and keeps offenses honest. He can finish on almost anybody above the rim and he uses the space he is given off the dribble to create jumpsuit opportunities. A player that should have a lot more recruitment interest than he has.
