Continue ReadingOur Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2026 Prospect Rankings are officially here! We debut the freshman class with an initial Top 25 plus a Watch List of approximately 200 names. As with all of our rankings, this is absolutely a work in progress. We will continue to add names, expand the rankings, and fine tune evaluations as these young prospects develop over the next few seasons. More than any other class, ranking freshmen is an inexact science. There are REALLY good players who we probably haven’t even heard of yet because they are playing on the Freshman or Junior Varsity team at a large Top 10 4A program. Similarly, putting up huge numbers at a small school doesn’t necessarily mean you are a top college prospect.
Our current view of the freshman class is admittedly largely shaped by the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase we hosted in the fall. That event brought 200+ of the top 2026 prospects in Indiana together, but obviously not ALL of the top players were in attendance. It can be hard to identify those missing players so early in their careers so I KNOW there are some very deserving names missing from the Watch List. The Top 25 is at least very close to being accurate right now from my perspective, but rankings (especially this early) DO NOT MATTER. Also, again, it is important to remember these are PROSPECT rankings. There are players in the Top 10 who don’t play many varsity minutes at all. Similarly, there are players on the Watch List who might average 15 points per game. Rankings are about PROJECTION and not so much PRODUCTION and that is especially true when the prospects are this young.
As always, if you have any questions or comments you can reach me via DM (always open) on Twitter @BRamseyKSRor email coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com. I hope you enjoy the rankings and take them for what they are. Our staff will continue to work tirelessly to cover every corner of Indiana and continue to build evaluations for all prospects in the Class of 2026 as we do with every class. This is just the beginning!
