The Chance Harman Classic returned to SWVA again this year, and as always it is one of my favorite events of the season. The annual event at Floyd County to raise money for cancer research always is a mix of some of the top teams in the western part of the state, as well as some of the top teams nationally in the region. There were a lot of standouts, so we will break them up and we take a look at part three here.

[player_tooltip player_id='999660' first='Dylan' last='Saunders'] | 6'8” PF | Cave Spring 2023

Saunders is considered perhaps the best player in Roanoke, and he showed that in Cave Spring's win over a good Spotswood team. The 6'8” big man was dominant in the paint as he moved well off the ball and caught and finished in the paint, he rebounded well on both ends of the floor and he protected the paint defensively too. He finished with 26 points and 8 rebounds in their win.

[player_tooltip player_id='999644' first='Stark' last='Jones'] | 6'3” CG | Cave Spring 2023

Jones is the heart and soul of this Cave Spring team, and he's one of the best two way guards that was at the event. He's a hard attacking guard who gets downhill and finishes at the rim well, he guards the other team's best player and he does a good job jumping passing lanes and getting steals. He did a little bit of everything finishing with 8 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in their win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1260002' first='Kameron' last='Tinsley'] | 6'6” WF | Cave Spring 2024

Tinsley is a very intriguing prospect who had a good sophomore year and now has stepped into a bigger role and looks like he's one of the top prospects in Roanoke. At 6'6” he has long arms and is a naturally gifted athlete, he's a very good shooter whether it's off the catch from deep or on the pull-up in the midrange and he can play and guard multiple positions. He finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in their win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1494113' first='Camryn' last='Pacheco'] | 6'3” CG | Spotswood 2025

Pacheco is quickly becoming one of the top players in the Harrisonburg area, and he showed that with a good performance against a very good Cave Spring team. The 6'3” combo guard showed his ability to create shots for himself and others, he made shots from multiple levels and he was active defensively getting a lot of deflections. He finished with a team high 14 points in their loss.

Stuart Hunt | 6'3” F | Altavista 2023

Hunt was very good in Altavista's win over a good Eastside team, and the First Team All State selection showed why he's one of the top players in the Class 1. The 6'3” forward is an absolute sniper from deep and shot the ball very well from deep, he's a good rebounder and passer for his size and he can finish in the paint as well.

Nekhi Robinson | 5'10” PG | Altavista 2023

Robinson is a sleeper on this Altavista team and he's a two way playmaker that brings great energy and does all the little things to help his team win. He's a lock down defender who can guard the length of the floor and jumps passing lanes, he can get in the paint where he can make plays for others and finish at the rim and he can make shots from deep as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='999640' first='Eli' last='McCoy'] | 6'7” C | Eastside 2023

McCoy is also one of the best players in Class 1, and he was good despite the loss that Eastside took to Altavista. McCoy is a big body in the paint who moves well for his size and has good instincts on the defensive end, he can finish around the rim and through contact and he shows good touch out to the midrange as well.

The Chance Harman Classic returned to SWVA again this year, and as always it is one of my favorite events of the season.
