Glen Ullin-Hebron
Kanyon Unruh Kanyon Unruh 6'0" | SG Glen Ullin/Hebron | 2023 State ND (2023) |6’0 G|
He is the PG in the Bearcat dynamic duo. Kanyon did a bit of everything last night. He created extra possessions with O-boards and when picking off passes for TO’s. Kanyon created deflections with his active hands. His jumper looks true & pure. The ball looks perfect when it comes off his hands. He hit multiple perimeter jumpers, and his runner/floater is one of the best that I have seen this season. Kanyon has a marvelous hesitation move and he was always beating his primary defender. He is not just a shooter and a playmaking slasher. Kanyon is not afraid to feed the post. He passed up multiple open looks to feed Mickelson around the basket. Unruh played well last night and he appears to be an All-Region talent.
Ben Hosman Ben Hosman 5'11" | CG Glen Ullin/Hebron | 2023 State ND (2023) |6’0 G|
He is the SG in the Bearcat dynamic duo. Hosman is a good athlete with sharp handles. He scored from 3 levels last night. Ben drilled triples, swished floaters, and scored with a smooth lefty finger roll. He is speedy fast up the court and is excellent at shaking his defender, and he knows the perfect time to pull up for his feathery soft runner. Hosman looks like an All-Region type player.
Will Mickelson Will Mickelson 6'8" | PF Glen Ullin/Hebron | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’8 PF|
He is a long and slim lefty that was producing all night around the rim. Will was a workhorse on the glass, especially on the O-end. As a result, he scored on putbacks. Mickelson also drew many fouls and he was at the charity stripe often. Will showed great hands when slashing down and across the lane. I liked how Mickelson rim-ran in transition and he scored because of it. Will scored with multiple turnaround shots from the block, fallaway short-jumpers in the lane, and a baseline J. I also love the fact that he finishes with both hands. Will had little trouble with a hand in his face and contact did not alter his shot.
Damian Gerving (2022) |6’2 SF|
He did most of his production around the basket but also stretched the floor and hit a triple from the right wing. Gerving had an athletic slash-n-score, a nifty finish at the rim, an athletic O-board putback, and a strong post-up where he backed his man down. Damian offers nice versatility to the Bearcats.
Riley Schneider Riley Schneider 6'3" | SG Glen Ullin-Hebron | 2025 State ND (2025) |5’11 G|
He stood out as a serious 3-point shooting threat. I knew that the Bearcats had two tough senior guards, but I did not know about Schneider being a sophomore 3-point flame thrower. Riley is an unselfish player. He had already made multiple triples, was going up for another, a teammate flashed in front of the hoop, in mid-shot Schneider decided to pass instead of shoot. He chose to pass up the 3-ball and passed to an open teammate for a closer shot. It is fun to see selfless players that that. The Bearcats have a talented backcourt with the senior dynamic duo and the young Mr. Schneider.
Luma Sako Ngoyo (2024) |6’3 SF|
He is a hustler that plays hard. Luma is a well-put-together athlete. He fights for rebounds and he shares the ball. I liked his touch and awareness when delivering a give-n-go pass. He looks to be a capable finisher around the basket.
Lemmon
Blair Ham Blair Ham 6'2" | SF Lemmon | 2025 State SD (2025) |6’0 SG|
He had a great night scoring the ball. Ham, first stuck out as a shooter. He started the scoring with a smooth triple, Blair has a clean/fluid stroke. He knocked down multiple three-balls throughout the game, they came off the bounce and catch. Ham never rushed his shot, his stroke is compact and there is no wasted movement. I liked how he spaced the floor and moved without the ball. Blair showed proper footwork when stepping into his shot and crafty feet when working from the post. Ham manipulated the defense with jab steps and step-throughs. He showed his awareness when faking a handoff for a good look and his hesitation move kept the D off balance. Ham was productive on the offensive glass and he scored with multiple putbacks. Blair was also great at getting to the line for FT’s. His strength and finishing ability allowed him to convert AND1’s and an old-school 3-point play. Blair looks like a sophomore to keep tabs on. The Cowboys lost, but Ham had a nice showing. He is a 3-level scorer with intrigue.
Sawyer Thompson (2024) |5’11 F|
I liked his effort when diving on the floor for loose balls and when he snagged O-boards. Sawyer slashed downhill, jumped stopped in front of the cup, and scored with a 2-foot finish. He had another nice slash-n-score when he lulled the defense to sleep, turned on the speed and scored at the rack.
Blake Drayton (2025) |5’7 G|
He made some nice plays as a slasher. Drayton showed good vision when penetrating into the lane and he showed his skills with a clean bounce pass to an open teammate near the hoop. Blake also slashed into the paint, drew fouls, and got to the FT-line.
Logan Dreiske (2024) |6’3 F|
He stuck out as a long and lanky athlete. He rebounded well on both ends of the floor. Logan played hard and gave extra effort. He blocked shots and grabbed offensive rebounds. I was impressed with how quickly Dreiske elevated for rebounds.
