But who has produced those rare 50-point games this season in South Dakota? By my knowledge and what I’ve found, there’s been four 50+ outputs this season. Let’s breakdown the games and stats and how they produced such high scoring games.
57 Points rnLaRoche put in a whopping 57 points in a 114-46 win over Cheyenne-Eagle Butte on 1/17/23. He made 12 three-pointers and had 36 points at halftime.
54 Points rnMeeter now holds the Lakota Nation Invitational scoring record with 54 points. He poured in seven threes, 17 of 25 from the field, and 17 of 22 from the free-throw line. 17 free-throws was also an NLI record.
Highlights
51 PointsrnJoe can score the ball. That sounds generic, but it is also a massive understatement. The Senior guard out of White River High School went off for 51 points against Kadoka Area. Joe knocked down 13 threes out of 18 for a 3pt% of 72.2%. Overall, he was 18 of 25 from the field. He’s a 2,000+ point career scorer, so this 51-point game is no surprise. He’ll take his talents to D1 South Dakota State University. To put some icing on the cake, he produced a 42-point game at the Hanson Classic up against Aberdeen Christian.
51 PointsrnBarr had a career-high 35-point game, he then casually followed that up with a 51-point outburst in a double-overtime win over Pierre. He was 17 of 27 from the field, 7 of 14 from three, and 10 of 13 from the free throw line. The 51 points is second in Aberdeen Central school history, only behind Eric Kline’s 59-point effort. The Senior guard is off to play ball at the University of Jamestown next season.
