One of the most special of these achievements is joining the 1000 point club. There’s no way around it, if you can drop 1000 points in your high school career, you were a special player. It’s a mark that can never be taken away. We’ve had some players score their 1000th point this season. Let’s look at some of those athletes.
Taylor hit the 1000 point plateau in The Carmody Classic where he was also named an MVP. It’s yet another mark on what could be considered an all time great high school career. Taylor managed to score all those points while still being possibly the best ball distributer in the state.
Nausadis is one of the top all around athletes in the state. There have been some big time teams and players that have laced up the sneakers against Nausadis and came away raving about his game. He averages well over 20 points per game and has his team off to a blazing start this season.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Towns’ game. I remember him stepping into the Top 250 as a freshman and turning heads. He’s silky smooth with the ball and can change direction and find lanes with ease. Towns can score with the best in Michigan, but can also feed the hot hand.
Blackwell is an elite combo guard that will be taking his talents to Wisconsin next season. He has a great athletic profile and seems ready to succeed at the next level. But back to 1000 points. It’s impressive to say the least. Mainly because he did while developing from a shooting guard to a high level combo guard that can initiate an offense like a true point.
Fishburn recently hit the 1000 point mark. This severely underrated superstar has been a versatile bucket getter since he stepped into a high school hallway. He can score from anywhere on the floor. Fishburn possesses a solid jumper that he can hit from beyond the arc, a slippery mid range game, and has the strength to score physically near the rim.
Williams could be the steal of the class when he gets to Grand Valley State University. The unselfish star takes as much pride in the success of others as he does in his own. That’s a great trait and shows great leadership. Williams deserves to hold his head high and be very proud of this accomplishment. He’s secured his spot in Lancers basketball history.
Benard has had one of the most impressive seasons in the state and is making his claim for a seat at the Mr. Basketball final table. Not only did he hit the 1000 point mark this season, but he also became Grosse Pointe South’s all time leading scorer. The Mercer commit is part of what has quickly become one of the most talented backcourts in the state.
Highlights
Taratuta continues to prove himself as an excellent shooter and scorer. The young man can hit shots and get buckets like it’s going out of style. He can expect a rise in the 2024 prospect rankings, that’s for sure. Taratuta and his recruitment will gain steam as more people see the scorer in action. In fact, I’m hoping to see him at the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250 next fall.
