Canevin has a brand new coach, but he's a legend in Tim McConnell, coming in from Char Val with an opportunity to take the reigns of one of the jobs with the most potential in the state. [player_tooltip player_id='1621402' first='RJ' last='SLEDGE'] transferred to Imani and star prospect Amari Evans returned to New York, but there's still talent back, including [player_tooltip player_id='1186057' first='Shea' last='Champine'] and Adante Berrien. They may not be state title contenders this year, but McConnell is a coach that parents will flock to and Canevin shouldn't miss a beat.

It'll be a slow start, as always, as most basketball stars are bigtime football players. Dropping down from 3A after making a deep playoff run, they'll be among the favorites in 2A. D.J. Walker and [player_tooltip player_id='991410' first='Cameron' last='Lindsey'] are among the top returners for a deep team.

The Centurions made the WPIAL semis last season and have quite a bit of talent on the roster this year. They'll be led by junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='991412' first='Tyree' last='Turner'], a physical guard with a mature mind for the game.

The Rangers had a fantastic year, making a title game for the first time in 60 years. They bring back three starters and will be led by all-section guard Owen Norman, a 5'10” senior.
