Continue Reading6A has been steady up at the top as AF and Corner Canyon have been fighting for the top spot al year long this season. We have seen both teams play multiple times and more than anyone else doing rankings in the state or out of the state. These two teams will go toe to toe twice and that can determine a lot moving forward as we anticipate these teams end up in opposite sides of the brackets when it comes to playoff time as long as the RPI does not penalize these teams and their out of state opponents. Here is the rest of the way things shook out in this weeks rankings.
#1 American Fork
Strength of schedule is elite and they have big time wins. Ashton Wallace Ashton Wallace 6'4" | CG American Fork | 2023 State UT is really starting to look like a no brainer D1 pick up for Lafayette. Tiger Cuff Tiger Cuff 6'4" | CG American Fork | 2024 State UT is developing and it is very noticeable.
#2 Corner Canyon
Strength of schedule is also elite. When multiple people get touches and looks Corner Canyon looks unstoppable. Really like Kellen Lewis as a wing slinging that three-ball.
#3 Cyprus
One of the toughest in-state schedule you will see. A few injuries but Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT is a winner and he is balling out.
#4 Layton
Layton is finding ways to win and the imergeance of Mekhi Martin Mekhi Martin 6'2" | PG Layton | 2024 State UT has come at the right time for them.
#5 Pleasant Grove
This team is starting to figure things out. Bron Roberts Bron Roberts 6'11" | SF Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT has been swell for the Vikings as has Michael Mitton Michael Mitton 6'3" | CG Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT . Great schedule and this team will likely make a deep run late.
#6 Riverton
Biggest surprise this season. Soft schedule but they keep winning. They have some shooters with size that have been huge.
#7 Davis
Quickest rebuild if you ask me. The Fisher’s, Whicker and Atwood have been good but they have so many players that make an impact on the game.
#8 Fremont
This team is tough and regardless of wins or losses they play hard and they can beat anyone. Hunter Hansen Hunter Hansen 6'4" | PG Fremont | 2024 State UT is a solid all-around hooper.
#9 Westlake
They will beat you up physically and if you’re not ready they have the scoring and defensive scheme to beat you.
#10 Farmington
This team has a little bit of sneaky good players. They are led by Paul Beattie Paul Beattie 6'9" | PF Farmington | 2024 State UT but they find ways to win.
Others to Watch
Syracuse, Herriman and Lone Peak
Syracuse has the horses to run with anyone. Herriman has a lot of talent but they seem to fall short at times. Ike Palmer Ike Palmer 6'6" | CG Herriman | 2024 State UT and Carlo Mulford Carlo Mulford 6'0" | PG Herriman | 2026 State UT are good. Lone Peak has size and players that can score. They will need to lean on Luke Fatheringham, Chamberlain Burgess Chamberlain Burgess 6'9" | PF Lone Peak | 2025 State #214 Nation UT and Ike Staley Ike Staley 6'6" | SG Lone Peak | 2025 State UT to get more stops.
