Smalls is a volume-shooting guard that set quite the tone on Day 2 with Wake Forest High in the backcourt. He finished with 12 points, showing off his ability to move without the ball and get to his spots in the paint and off the bounce inside the perimeter. He’s an intriguing guard for DII/DIIIc & JUCO schools to tap in on in the 2023 class.
Highlights
Alston is really starting to come into his own at the forward/wing spot for Wake Forest High. He led the way for the Cougars with 15 points, with 11 points coming in the second half. As he finds his motor/energy and learns to be a consistent all-around threat, he’s due for a breakout junior season as conference play approaches.

Nick Hicklen
Nick Hicklen
Hicklen was impressive shooting the ball in the Northern Durham backcourt on Day 2. He finished with 15 points to lead the way for their offense, with three made 3-pointers as well. He’s a young junior guard to get to know with the Knights.
Fife is a top sophomore floor general that has Sanderson High playing at a high level in 2022-23. He paced the offense with 19 points and a marvelous passing display to show off his ability to lead by example in the backcourt for the Spartans.
Jay Peterson
Jay Peterson
Peterson is a raw big man with some talent in the Sanderson High frontcourt. He showed he could take up space and defend the paint, despite battling foul trouble throughout. He finished with nine points and a slew of rebounds before fouling out when it was all said and done.
Ericksen showed why he should be considered a top name to know in the 2025 class for Green Level High with his performance. He finished with a game-high 22 points, showing off his ability to operate in space and knock down shots while getting to the free throw line as well.
Highlights
Cloer had his entire arsenal on full display on Day 2 for Orange High as he led the way for his squad. He showed he could finish above the rim, knock down shots off the catch, knock down shots off the bounce and operate in the painted area. He was impressive in his first showing of the 2022-23 season with some other talent in tow to keep eyes on as well. He finished with 22 points.

Xandrell Pennix
Pennix was dialed in from distance on Day 2 for Orange High. He knocked down four 3-pointers to the tune of 13 points to show off his ability to shoot the ball on the perimeter. He’s a 2025 prospect that’s put himself on the PrepHoops radar with relative ease given his shooting ability and ability to defend.
Haywood was electric in the Cary High backcourt as he kept the pressure on his opponents with his downhill driving ability. He finished with 20 points, including three 3-pointers to show he wasn’t just limited to his paint touches and layups. He’s an unsigned name with the Imps to keep eyes on given his ability.
Highlights
Chavis was right behind Haywood in the offensive attack, finishing with 16 points (2 made 3-pointers) to show off what he could do for Cary High. He used his size well to battle on the boards and space the perimeter shooting with his shooting ability. He’s another unsigned name to keep an eye on.
Pettit was impressive shooting the ball on the perimeter for the Vikings as he spearheaded their comeback. He knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points to show off his perimeter prowess. He continues to show why he should be considered a top shooter in the state of North Carolina.

Traevon White
White showed his poise and aggression in the final possession as he knocked down an elbow-jumper to lift South Granville to a lead with 1.7 seconds left. He stepped up in the clutch and showed he can knock down shots when it mattered in lifting the Vikings to a victory in the final game of the night.
