DaMonte Hurt (Parkway South): A 6’2″ 2023 point guard who had a big performance in the No. 12 seeded Patriots’ 60-57 victory over No. 5 seed Edwardsville on Monday. He has good athleticism and quickness and he was very difficult to keep out of the lane throughout the game. He scored on some twisting drives to the basket and he dropped off some nice dimes off of his dribble penetration. Whenever he decided to get downhill on the drive, good things were going to happen for him and his teammates. He finished the game with 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Chris Ketchum Chris Ketchum 6'3" | SG Saint Charles I | 2024 State MO (St. Charles): A 6’4″ 2024 guard who is starting to emerge as a fine all-around talent. The one thing that really stood out to me was his passing ability and overall feel for the game. He made a few jaw-dropping passes, including a no-look wrap-around in the first quarter that led to a layup. He is also the Pirates’ primary ball handler and he makes good decisions. With his size and athleticism, he is able to slash to the basket and shoot over defenders while also grab offensive rebounds. He finished with 12 points in the Pirates overtime victory over Ritenour. He is averaging 15 points and eight rebounds in leading the Pirates to a 10-0 record.

Grayson Rogers (Ritenour): A 6’3″ 2023 guard who is very talented and versatile offensive player. He scored 15 points in the Huskies’ overtime loss to St. Charles before fouling out. He is a potent scoring threat who can get you a bucket in a variety of ways. He had a nice baseline floater along the baseline as well as an effective pull up jumper from the mid-range area. He is very efficient in that he doesn’t need an abundance of dribbles to get where he needs to go. He can also hit the 3-pointer. I also caught his act on opening night in late November when he scored 28 points in a victory over a highly-regarded John Burroughs team.
**********
Elijah Leech (St. Charles): The 6’0″ 2023 guard scored a game-high 20 points in the Pirates’ overtime victory over Ritenour. This young man played with more energy and activity than any player that I watched throughout the entire day. He is a good athlete who seemed to be everywhere on the court as his motor never stopped running. He scored on slashing moves in the lane, excellent off-ball cuts, offensive rebounds and layups off the full court pressure defense. He is a coach’s dream because he can be a very productive player without ever having to run a play for him.

Dwight Lomax Jr Dwight Lomax Jr 5'9" | PG Francis Howell | 2023 MO (Francis Howell): A 5’9″ 2023 point guard who scored a nice, calm 11 points in the Vikings’ one-sided victory over Clayton. The lefty has good quickness and he plays under control, whether he has the ball or if he’s playing off the ball, which he does both very well. He has a nice shooting stroke from 3-point range, especially from the corners, where he hit a couple of triples. He also has a nice one-dribble pull up off the shot fake where he can hit the jumper or get into the lane for the runner. He is a solid ball handler and passer who plays within himself.

Rah-Sheed Taggert (Ritenour): A 6’5″ 2023 forward who scored 14 points in the Huskies’ overtime loss to St. Charles. He is a versatile combo-forward with good bounce and a solid skill set. He is long and very active around the basket as a scorer and rebounder. He has a quick second jump inside when he hits the offensive boards. He also displayed a nice stroke from the perimeter as he hit two 3-pointers. He hit a nice trail 3 in the transition game where he caught the ball on the move, yet in a nice rhythm to shoot the ball.
