I saw some exciting prospects and look forward to giving you my evaluations each and every Sunday throughout the season. It is time to recap this week and look at what our exciting prospects did at the Sneakers For Santa Shootout at Brownsburg High School
North Central: vs Bloomfield (12/3)
Highlights
Without question, Brown was one of the top players in the 2023 class in the gym on Saturday that is still on the board. He was plays some all-around pesky defense and he was using his length and athleticism to make plays on offense. Showed show great work on the baseline and has one of the best pull up jumpers I saw all day. He finished with 15 pts.
Woodson is a shorter guard that plays tough and has a bulldog mentality on the floor. Goes at the rim hard and can knocked the outside jumper off the catch. Real quick transition and his strong play at the rim makes him dangerous. Standout player for North Central on Saturday.
“Papi” Rivera was one of the smoothest guard I saw all day. Ended up with 21 pts on the day and a true microwave type of scorer that can get hot if you don’t contain him. Shoots the ball so well from deep and plays with confidence. Sees the floor well and makes smart decisions.
Beech Grove: vs NorthWood (12/3)
Highlights
Beech Grove has two electric senior guards and Alexander is one of them. Has a real quick first step off the dribble and score either from the pull up or in the lane at the rim. Works well off the ball and can create an open look, and convert, from the outside. He finished with 10 pts.
The other electric guard on the Beech Grove team is Tate and like Alexander, he is quick. Plays more on the ball than not and can make some quick and shifty looking moves with it. Sees the floor very well and can facilitate. Has a nice baseline floater and can get past his defense very well. Used his athletic ability to have a huge block at one point. He finished with 10 pts.
NorthWood: vs Beech Grove (12/3)
Highlights
Although he finished with 13 pts, the Huntington commit struggled a little bit scoring throughout the majority of the game. Real tough player that knows how to use his strength and quickness to make plays. Motor is always high if nothing else. He did also add 5 rbs and 4 asts. If he could have just converted on a few more of his shots, NorthWood would have come out the winner.
Raasch (Grace commit) is a undersized power forward with just a fantastic motor. Made a ton of aggressive plays and is always looking to drive to the rim, Had a great fast break play where he utilized a beautiful ero-step to finish it off. He does all the little things is always hustling. He was leading scorer on the day in this game with 18 pts.
The younger Raasch brother is a long and lanky center that has a soft touch around the rim. Runs the floor well and is solid on the glass. Can be a little explosive at time and did has a big time fast break dunk. Just an overall mobile big man that protects the rim and has risen his stock. Player to watch out for these next few years.
Zionsville: vs Gary 21st (12/3)
The extremely smart lead guard played an overall really good game here vs, Gary 21st. Had 20 pts on the day and did so scoring from both around the rim and the outside. The pressure never seems to be a problem with him and plays at such a calm composure. The Penn State commit also added 7 rbs and a asts.
Highlights
The talented big man was a problem for Gary 21st all game. With no size to match up with Richart, he was able to get some easy buckets around the basket and find success on the glass. He ended up with a double-double of 20 pts and 10 rbs. Just an unstoppable day for the Charolette commit Richart.
Gary 21st: vs Zionsville (12/3):
Highlights
Williamson is another 2023 player here that can make a case as the best that is still on the board. In this game vs. Zionsville, he was doing what he does best and that was making plays happen and doing it at quick speed. He is so dynamic and can make all sorts of tough shots at any level. He ended up with 20 pts and 6 asts. Colleges really need to get on this guy cause he can be a steal at any level.
Highlights
Moss drew the assignment of guarding Richart so he played a little out of position here. One of the senior leaders on this team, he has a strong build and he great motor. So aggressive in the paint going for boards. Really is kind of like the glue of this team. He ended up with 14 pts.
Heritage Christian: vs Linton-Stockton (12/3):
Highlights
The Purdue commit was his high level scoring self like he always is and ended up with 23 pts to lead the Eagles. Made a few tough contested shots and played 1v1 like he does so well. One of the most athletic guards in the gym on Saturday. Had one of the best fast break slams on the day.
Peters was standout for me on this Heritage Christian team due to how well he played through contact. He is an undersized PF in a way but is guy that just competes the whole time. Real lanky so needs to add weight but gave his teams some second chance points opportunities. Underrated piece of this team.
