Hosted by recruiting legend Tim Davis, the event took place Thursday, Dec 8th thru Saturday, Dec 10th at Nets on Fire in St George, UT The event featured over 80 teams ranging from 4th grade up to 8th. Here’s a look at some of our top Sleepers and Stockrisers from the event.
Terry McKinney
Terry McKinney
McKinney is a sleeper to keep an eye on. He has the size to play down low, but the skill to play on the post. I thought his best skill was defense this weekend, as he showed the ability to hedge and switch ball screens and move his feet to stay in front of shifty guards. He also blocked a handful of shots, showing nice instincts and timing on the defensive side of the ball.
Levi Shaw
Levi Shaw
Shaw was a solid producer for the Wolfpack and showed that he can score the basketball. The guard had a nice mid range shot, along with the ability to finish layups around the basket. The little guy was good finishing in half court sets and showed the ability to play through contact and finish in transition.
Deandre Monroe
Deandre Monroe
Monroe’s ability to handle against pressure was nice. The PG did a good job of using back dribbles and blinding speed to defeat backcourt traps. His skill carried over into the front court, as the PG showed good vision along with some dime dropping ability, setting up teammates for easy baskets after breaking the press.
Wyatt Hancock
Wyatt Hancock
Hancock makes my sleeper list, based on his defensive prowess. He was one of the best interior defenders at the event, using his big, strong upper frame, to easily move opponents off the block. He was more than one dimensional however, as he also proved that he can rebound the basketball as well as score with his back to the basket.
Inoke Lloyd
Inoke Lloyd
Lloyd is a versatile weapon and was one of the top stockrisers that I saw at the event. The multi – level scorer found ways to score off the drive, from behind the arc and around the rim. Lloyd was smooth and efficient in all facets of his game, making his scoring look effortless. Based on his performance last weekend, he has the potential to be a prospect down the road.
Bodie Sparrow
Bodie Sparrow
Sparrow is a stockriser with one of the best high school ready frames of anyone that I saw at the event. He put it to good work, as the 6’1 power guard was routinely able to get into the lane, deliver contact and finish. Sparrow was almost unstoppable in transition, as most players reluctantly got out of his way, allowing him to easily score at the basket. His game translates away from the basket as well, as he made some open threes, and was able to find teammates for easy baskets.
