This past week, Serra HS played host to the annual Dwan Hurt Holiday Classic. The tournament runs through the entire week and I was able to stop by and see some of the action. Here's a look at some additional top standouts I saw.

1. [player_tooltip player_id='994905' first='Marcus' last='Adams'] - Narbonne 2024

Adams is such a versatile player who can play multiple positions. He can be a wing and play on the perimeter or he can play small ball center. He has a good combination of size and skill. He can handle the ball and in the halfcourt he does a good job attacking the basket. Can drive baseline and he's a crafty and athletic finisher at the rim. If he's playing the small ball five, he can space the floor with his three-point shooting. He can knock down the pull-up three in transition or he can face up and shoot as well. Can also shoot the step-back and pull-up midrange in the halfcourt. Uses his size well to grab rebounds.

2. Nathan Ibarra - South East 2023

Ibarra is a big/tall point guard. He handles the ball well, he can break a defensive press well and he consistently attacks the middle. A very good three-point shooter who consistently knocks them down off the catch. He has good court vision and excels as a playmaker; he can find cutters to the basket well. He's a bit slight, but isn't afraid to mix it up inside grabbing rebounds. He can start the break off his own rebounds and can find the open teammate running in transition.

3. Syeon Jennings - Lynwood 2023

Jennings is a solid big man with a variety of skills. He can space the floor and consistently knock down the three-ball off catch and shoot situations. He runs the floor well on the break and is a finisher at the rim. At times he can handle the ball and make plays off the dribble. He has the tools to be good defensively. He's active using his length to play the passing lanes and cause deflections/force turnovers.

4. [player_tooltip player_id='1310858' first='Zyier' last='Beverly'] - Washington Prep 2023

A Tennessee State commit, Beverly is also a versatile player who can do a little bit of everything on the court. A high-flyer, he soars above the rim and looks to finish strong at the basket every time. He doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective, he goes and gets it off the rim as a strong offensive rebounder. He can handle the ball though and he can make plays off the dribble in the halfcourt. He can space the floor too and knock down catch and shoot three-pointers. What stood out even more so in the game I saw is his defensive ability to be a rim protector and challenge shots well.

This past week, Serra HS played host to the annual Dwan Hurt Holiday Classic. The tournament runs through the entire week and I was able to stop by and see some of the action. Here's a look at some additional top standouts I saw.

1. Marcus Adams, Jr. Marcus Adams, Jr. Marcus Adams, Jr. 6'8" | PF Narbonne | 2023 State CA-S - Narbonne 2024

4. Zyier Beverly Zyier Beverly Zyier Beverly 6'7" | SF Washington Prep | 2023 State CA-S - Washington Prep 2023
