Lima Shawnee beat Thurgood Marshall 58-45. St Vincent St Mary’s beat Cincinnati Princeton 64-56 and the Lima Senior beat Dayton Dubar 73-71. This article will talk about the top player from these games.
I kept finding myself on Sunday just loving Hamilton’s leadership. I was lucky enough to be on the baseline for STVM’s game against Sierra Canyon on Saturday and the leadership stuck out there but I wondered if it was just for the cameras and media or not. Turns out he wasn’t. That is just the type of kid Hamilton is. He is an excellent leader. He is like a second coach on the floor. Great communicator. He is also just the type of senior point guard you want. Very consistent. He knocks down one shot and he got the team going for the Irish on Sunday. It seemed like they might’ve been drained and still celebrating the big win on Saturday but Kevin wasn’t. He was leading the way scoring and bringing his teammates with him. He finished with 28 points.
Highlights
Williams is a special athlete. Truly makes some remarkable plays. He is a lockdown defender that won’t let you score. He is willing to take chances on some steals that does get him in foul trouble sometimes but when he gets those steals get your cameras out because he will put on a show. He had a monstrous dunk in the 3rd quarter that left the rim shaking. His size and strength were on full display as his main task was to guard STVM’s 6’10 big most of the game. Dorian only stands 6’4 and he didn’t give up anything. Shows the type of defender and athlete this guy is.
Hatcher is a very promising player. Seems to have gained some muscle and height in his body. He is already athletic so gaining those only helped. He is a very skilled guard. Makes some moves that get the crowd going. He has a very good jumper. Knocks down threes but does most of his damage attacking the basket. He just simply makes very tough shots consistently.
Hayes was one of the biggest reasons why STVM won the game on Sunday. He turned his defensive energy up. He was at the top of the full-court zone defense and he caused tons of turnovers. He ended up with a ton of layups and and-1s. Hayes was not the main score for the team on Sunday but he impacted the game greatly in other ways.
Vorst was the main player Mansfield Senior was trying to stop. They sent many double teams at him and Vorst did not score a ton but he did affect the games in every other way. He made Mansfield shoot threes all game because people were scared to take it to the rim. He was blocking everything. He got many rebounds and made some next-level passes. He has a great feel for the game. What really impressed me was Vorst’s motor. He is a big kid and was all over the floor. Was playing very hard and it was great to see because I know this kid has felt with knee injuries. Good to see him moving well and pushing himself to play hard.
