The Broncs will look to battle night in and night out in a competitive/deep/log-jammed Black Hills Conference. Belle Fourche brings back two starters and reliable performers in Anthony Budmayr Anthony Budmayr 6'1" | PG Belle Fourche | 2023 State SD and Anthony Staley Anthony Staley 6'5" | PF Belle Fourche | 2023 State SD . Tatin Yackley provided good minutes off the bench as a junior last year and stepped up in some big moments. Yackley will need to continue that upward trend as the Broncs have a much bigger role with the absence of backcourt graduates Gabe Heck and Caiden Stores. Nolan Wahlfeldt played some spot minutes throughout the year as a sophomore and showed that he belongs out on the floor during the varsity game. The Broncs are excited to see him step into a bigger role. Jayden Sechser and Joshua Hahne are both seniors that will bring some length and athleticism to the floor. Jet Jensen Jet Jensen 5'9" | PG Bell Fourche | 2025 State SD is a quick sophomore that appears ready to play big minutes for the Broncs. A couple of other players are competing to round out the rotation and look to add depth for the grind of the season. Coach Pottorff is excited to work with this group of young men because they have a fun bond where they care for each other and have each other’s back. They are not afraid to compete against each other and make each other better from it. Great things are coming for the Broncs!

Team Stats 2021-22
PPG: 54.4 RPG: 33.9 ORPG: 13.9 APG: 11.4 BPG: 2.8 FG%: 42
Broncs to Watch
Anthony Budmayr Anthony Budmayr 6'1" | PG Belle Fourche | 2023 State SD (2023) |6’1 G|
Previous season stats: 12 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.3 spg. He is a smooth and savvy ballplayer that understands what the Broncs need. He puts his team in a position to succeed. Budmayr is a knockdown shooter that can also attack off the dribble to get to his smooth pull-up, get all the way to the rim/FT line, or find a teammate for an open shot/layup.
Anthony Staley Anthony Staley 6'5" | PF Belle Fourche | 2023 State SD (2023) |6’5 F|
Previous season stats: 5.9 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.3 apg. He is a BIG that can run the floor to catch and finish, he did good things in the high post this summer. Anthony is a pure competitor that pursues rebounds with desire. Staley is able to shoot and looks to have a much bigger role with the absence of frontcourt graduates Aiden Giffin and Ryker Audiss.
Tatin Yackley (2023) |6’2 G/F|
He is an extremely versatile and efficient player for Belle Fourche. Tatin has a good feel for the game, he knows when and where to cut to get open for layups on passes from Anthony Budmayr Anthony Budmayr 6'1" | PG Belle Fourche | 2023 State SD . Yackley is also good at finding his open teammates. He is a fiery defender that is not afraid to mix up it on the glass. The Broncs will look for Yackley to be a foundational piece to keep them steady in big situations.
Nolan Wahlfeldt (2024) |6’1 G|
He is an athletic player for the Broncs that can get to the rim and can get off the floor for rebounds. Nolan has the quickness and length to disrupt a variety of offensive players.
Jet Jensen Jet Jensen 5'9" | PG Bell Fourche | 2025 State SD (2025) |5’7 G|
He is an energizing presence that plays with great pace. Jet can create his own shot on the perimeter as well as in the paint. Jensen has good instincts defensively and can jump out into passing lanes to create easy transition opportunities. Jet played well this summer and is ready to step into a big role for the Broncs this season.
Jayden Sechser (2023) |6’3 F|
He is an athletic player that catches and finishes efficiently. He is a presence in the paint defensively by blocking shots and pulling down rebounds. Jayden brings a different kind of physicality/tenacity/mindset in the paint to guard more bully-ball type of posts than the Broncs have had in the past couple of years. He played in only a few games last year but the Broncs will depend on him for big production in rebounding and finishing up passes from guards.
Joshua (JT) Hahne (2023) |6’3 F|
He is a tough, hard-nosed player that brings a lot of passion to the squad. Joshua is a teammate that you want to play with. Hahne is skilled offensively; able to attack the rim, make a move in the post, or knock down shots from the high post and top of the key.
Q&A with coach Clay Pottorff
PHD: What can you tell us about practice this week?
Coach Pottorff: “First few practices have went well, the boys are competing hard and working to be prepared for Spearfish come December 9th. Anthony Budmayr Anthony Budmayr 6'1" | PG Belle Fourche | 2023 State SD looks ready for a big year. Anthony Staley Anthony Staley 6'5" | PF Belle Fourche | 2023 State SD 6’5 SR has been a beast on the boards. Jet Jensen Jet Jensen 5'9" | PG Bell Fourche | 2025 State SD exploded offensively yesterday and has been really scrappy defensively.”
PHD: Can you give us some information about last season?
Coach Pottorff: “It was a successful and competitive year for Belle Fourche last year, finishing 13-7 in the regular season. Hill City played well in the first round of Region 8A and knocked us off in a close game. The Broncs had multiple seniors that played major roles; Aiden Giffin, Gabe Heck and Ryker Audiss. Opportunities for new Broncs this year to have the ball in tight situations.”
PHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program?
Coach Pottorff: “The offseason went well for us, we started June by going to University of Northern Colorado Team Camp in Greeley, Colorado. We did some good stuff in Greeley, played some tough competition and started building our identity for the summer and this winter. We also played at BHSU team camp in mid-June and South Dakota School of Mines team camp in late July. We had a lot of good minutes for players to get Varsity exposure to prepare for this winter.”
PHD: What style of basketball will your team play?
Coach Pottorff: “The Broncs will play a tough, hard-nosed style of defense where we will value the ball by not turning it over and pursuing every rebound and loose ball with urgency. We will look to get out in transition when appropriate to maximize our athletic bigs that run the floor well. We have multiple shooters that will help keep the floor spaced.”
