Basketball in the Garden State is just starting to pick up as the opening week of practices is winding down. The Burlington County Scholastic League has a good group of players that will help their teams make deep runs in the state tournament. Here are the BCSL duos to watch in 2022-23.

Medford Tech: [player_tooltip player_id='1456834' first='Tre' last='Powell'] & Nesta Rice

The Jaguars have one of the most exciting guard duos in South Jersey with Powell and Rice, who should make plays for them all season. The former has a good handle and a quick first step, allowing him to beat his defender off the bounce and finish around the basket. Rice plays with poise with the ball in his hands as he does not get rattled by on-ball pressure and makes plays when he gets into the lane. They're both good rebounders for guards and get deflections on the defensive end. Powell and Rice will be spearheading Medford Tech's offense as they will be tough to stop in the BCSL this season.

Moorestown: [player_tooltip player_id='1402094' first='David' last='Gheysens'] & [player_tooltip player_id='1407070' first='Leo' last='Hinshillwood']

Moorestown have been one of the top teams in South Jersey Group 3 over the past couple of seasons and have a sharpshooting guard duo to watch. Hinshillwood has a smooth release on his jumper and moves well without the ball in his hands. Gheysens wastes little motion on his jumper and shoots the ball with confidence from behind the arc. He has an underrated handle and works hard on the defensive end. Gheysens and Hinshillwood will be a sharpshooting guard duo for Moorestown who should torch the nets for them all season long.

Burlington Township: [player_tooltip player_id='1400501' first='Maurice' last='Crump'] & [player_tooltip player_id='933050' first='Jordan' last='Poole']

The Falcons made the South Jersey Group 3 title game last season and has the chance to make the sectional title game again this season with its top two scorers returning. Crump has a lightning quick first step and a tight handle, which he uses to blow by his defender and create space for himself on the perimeter. Poole plays with good floor vision and can hit his open teammates in the half court. They play with good chemistry together in the back court and are solid on-ball defenders. Crump and Poole will be running Burlington Township's offense again this season as they look to lead the Falcons to a sectional title.

New Egypt: [player_tooltip player_id='1400495' first='Devin' last='Kimmick'] & Connor Stillwell

New Egypt is competing for the South Jersey Group 1 after being in the Central Jersey Group 1 last season and has one of the top returning scorers in the conference in Kimmick. The 6'4 guard has a good release on his jumper and sets his feet before he shoots. Kimmick moves well without the ball in his hands and is a strong rebounder at both ends of the floor. Stillwell is a solid finisher around the basket and should have more touches on the offensive end this season. Kimmick and Stillwell will be relied upon to help shoulder the scoring load for New Egypt this season.

Burlington City: [player_tooltip player_id='1413227' first='Shakur' last='Anderson'] & [player_tooltip player_id='1460634' first='Everett' last='Barnes']

Anderson and Barnes are breakout candidates to watch in the BCSL as they both should get more touches on the offensive end. The former is a lanky, wing prospect who knows how to get to the basket and rises up nicely on his jumper. Barnes knows how to get position down low and has a soft touch around the basket. They are both strong rebounders and use their length to make plays on the defensive end. Anderson and Barnes are an intriguing duo to watch this season as they look to help Burlington City take home the South Jersey Group 1 title.
