For the more traditional readers, we will be doing a preview of All State teams by classifications too. While most VHSL All State teams have two teams with 8 players on each, we have decided to simply list some of the players we expect to be on the team at the end of the season.

With that being said, here's a look at part two of our picks for VHSL Class 3 All State candidates, looking at six players we expect to be in the conversation.

[player_tooltip player_id='1483039' first='Tucker' last='Shifflett'] | 6'0” CG | William Monroe 2023

Shifflett was a First Team All State selection last year after having a huge junior season for Monroe, and he showed he can do it with the best of them this summer with Team Richmond. He's a smooth guard with a great fundamental package and the ability to score the ball off the bounce, he shoots it well from deep and he has both toughness and great feel to his game as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1159838' first='Evan' last='Ramsey'] | 6'11” C | Abingdon 2023

Ramsey was an All State selection as a sophomore before dealing with injuries last season, but if he can come back to his normal self this year he could be dominant as part of one of the biggest front courts in public school basketball. Ramsey has great touch around the rim and out to the three-point line, he can bang in the post with good post moves and hits the glass on both ends of the floor and there aren't going to be many players who can guard him in his region this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1117695' first='Wyatt' last='Trundle'] | 6'6” PF | Meridian 2023

Trundle and his Meridian team are going to surprise a lot of people this year, especially if he can step into the go-to role and put up the numbers we expect him to this year. The 6'6” forward is a walking mismatch at this level as he can rebound and play in the paint, he can step out and knock down shots from deep and stretch the floor and he has a lot of feel and good IQ for the game as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1241929' first='Jackson' last='Crawford'] | 5'11” PG | Lord Botetourt 2023

Crawford is one of the most fun guards to watch in the Roanoke area, as the 5'11” lead guard is as crafty as they come and he has some sauce to his game too. The Emory & Henry commit is super shifty off the bounce with a good handle and the ability to change speeds and directions, he's surprisingly quick and bouncy and he finishes well around the rim over bigger defenders and he can make shots from multiple levels as well.

Cameron Mise | 5'11” PG | Hopewell 2024

Mise was a First Team All State selection as just a sophomore as he helped Hopewell to the state semifinals before falling to rival Petersburg, and he's a big reason they're one of the favorites in Class 3 this year. He's a dynamic guard who thrives in transition with his speed in the open floor and ability to put pressure on the defense, he can hit tough shots from deep and in the midrange and he's an excellent defender with good instincts on and off the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1494115' first='Cy' last='Hardy'] | 5'11” PG | Northside 2025

Hardy played a solid role for an experienced Northside team last season, and now that he's a sophomore it's usually the time that Coach Bill Pope lets his players get loose and we're expecting a big year from him on one of the best backcourts in the state. Hardy is wired to go as he is shifty and strong off the bounce allowing him to get in the paint and finish, he can make shots from all three levels and create in isolation situations and he has takeover ability when he gets it going.
